Atari 2600 not working!! help.

I bought my 7 year old son an Atari for his birthday. Hes been playing video games such as the wii/playstation...
Etc.. when I explained the whole vintage video game thing to him he was so excited. Plugged it in put in frogger. Was working..then it went out!! Just static. What to do?:freaked-out:

Anyway, unfortunately I don't know too much about the Atari. Where did you buy it? Off Ebay? Did you try googling the problem? Perhaps this will help?

Define static. How are you connecting the Atari to the TV? Have you cleaned the cartridge's pins with alcohol?
