Each month we will select a game from the thirteen games listed in the 2014 Gamer of the Year contest. If you manage to control the top spot in that month's game selection by the end of the month, we'll award you with an extra 10 bonus points for the 2014 Gamer of the Year contest!

Also, to add some tasteful fun and i am really proud to announce this. The leader of each day will have a barrage of things that can happen to him/her.

RU is going troubleshooting crazy. This can happen at any time during the day. RU users get to choose whether to delete his/her account, change his/her password, change his/her user name. Just to name a few.

Honestly I don't care. I don't even know if last year was good or bad. I'm not into competitive gaming but I do respect that it's something you and a lot of others enjoy. I kinda know that you won last year but I've got no clue who else even played so I'm not really the person to ask. I prefer to just play my games casually and I think there's room for both types of gamers on RU.

That being said, I have an amazing staff and I fully trust them 100% of the way. Sanic (Wolf), Barra, Kong, Jojo, and Joz all enjoy the competitive side of this hobby and are doing the best they can to keep it interesting. As Barra just now told me: "are we trying to top last year? no we arent. trying to mix it up so its not the same repetitive stuff" and I trust Barra greatly.

I spoke with Barra and we definitely are looking to top last year. He also agreed. We need to really shake things up and i am completely on the right track with the keeping RU leaders on their toes. I even had backing by Tails and Josephjo.

I"m really feeling like i will be contributing a great deal to this site. More to come. More to come.

Oh and @Barra. I am pretty sure no one likes losing. Some people learn to let it go and others can't. I learned to let it go but i dont like to be beating - if i care enough.

Competitive gaming would be where i spend hours on end mastering games and then maybe issuing challenges. If you look around the web i only ever try when prizes are involved or i have a goal.

For me? Yeah. I would consider it a chore. I don't want to waste days learning every single pattern in a game for what ultimately? Reach my goal and then after weeks/months never play the game again. Then one day another competition begins. Said game is selected and the relearning of the game begins again.

But maybe our definitions are differing. I considering competitive gaming two-fold: Something like EVO or CounterStrike with MLG but i guess that would be more like COD now or Painkiller. This would fall into the Prize category. Money is a great motivator. I don't consider that competitive gaming, even if it is. I consider competitive gaming something that goes back and forth between two people or a group. Constantly trying to one-up the other party.

Most of these "competitions" are in the form of a tournament. If you love sports then you would be completely familiar with this setup. You want to make it to the end. Naturally.

I'm not denying that there are groups of people who enjoy this. Unfortunately, I am not one of them anymore.

It was fun for a few when my scores would be beaten on here. But now its to the point i either go, nope or expletive, don't want to play that game again.

My case in point when Innuendo and myself were going back and forth in Aero Fighters I started to get really bored for two reasons: A) my inability to consistently play that game at a high level and B) the fact that I have to play the game, yet again. It would be like sitting through a movie you didn't care for 50 times in a row.

Again, maybe for some that is fun. I hate monotony and repetition generally and moreso on the scale that is my perfectionism (when it s called for). That's usually why i find myself extraditing myself away from things for months to years or never again.

There was a point in time where it was fun but like most anything it slowly becomes stale and to the point I get to disgusted thinking about the game.

Here at RL I was unemployed and in a hole. So i made two goals: take the trophy spot and win 2013 champ. It was purely out of fun for myself. As i didn't view it as a competition but that i wanted to win. When TRB battled me it made me more mad. Mad in the fact that i didn't play all the games and now i have to do "chores." All my 1s are mostly lets see if i can beat so and so's score.

@Sanic - I did try in RL the first 2 or 3 seasons I was in it. Then there came a point where if i had a big enough lead I would take weeks off.

If you recall the last 2 or 3 i had come backs where i was down 200 or 300 points. That would be considered a goal. I wanted to come from behind and steal the 1 spot. But i wasn't spending days or hours learning games like the first 2 or 3 seasons. Sure there may be a game or two that i do spend more time than usual but that's because i enjoyed the game.

I can spend hours in a game for personal reasons. I want to hit this score or beat the game but i really do not think i am a competitive gamer. I may fall into the category but I am straight-up saying that I am not.

I don't know how this thread became about me. I apologize for this. I was merely having some fun with members who probably misinterpreted my sarcasm/humor for being serious. I hate talking about myself and i hate coming off like i may be some pompous a-hole, because i am not. I don't brag. I am humble.

If it's more a curiosity than I will continue to field questions about my odd disposition on life/things. That is, if there are more questions/inquires.

*edit - i get it now. Yes. I will probably play in RL 33. Usually the first two games always bring me back and i go, hmm maybe i'll 1000 point the league and then the crummy games start flowing in. ha. But yeah, i'll probably play a few rounds and then forget.
