Valiant Hearts: The Great War [US] - YouTube
Puzzle adventure-narrative by Ubisoft. The story is inspired by a series of letters found in the possession of one of the developer's ancestors.
I think the style and soundtrack are presented very well so far, and the characters sound interesting. It's pretty bold that they reveal that four of the main cast won't survive, but I do find myself guessing who the survivor will be. Curiosity piqued.
Also I find it kinda funny that it's almost impossible to find an action game based on the first World War, where as games that take place during 1940-45 exclusively revolve around combat.

Something to definitely keep an eye out for. I like the story so far. I'm definitely interested to see where they go with it.

That does look amazing, DN. My curiosity is also piqued now. I don't trust the publisher one bit though so I'll wait until after launch to make my decision.
I wonder if the apathy towards the first world war is due to how completely gruesome and inhumane the combat was.

Lol. A Kotaku interviewer said the same thing to a dev.

Heh-heh. Saw that one coming.
Given that it's made by Ubisoft, you can be sure to expect 10 more sequels if it does well at all.

I suppose getting the atmosphere of the trench battles correct would probably require a very detailed presentation for what would be a limiting gameplay experience.

I agree. I think it's very difficult to make what was an attritional, static conflict into a compelling, fluid game:
"Mission one: Over the top"
Whereby player is unloaded on with machine guns, artillery, mortars and gas. And then dies horribly in the mud.

Sorry if that sounded flippant and disrespectful, not my intention.

To me it sounded towards the challenge and result of making such a game while acknowledging a genuine horror that real people faced. S'all good.
I'm guessing the aviator that lied about knowing how to fly is one of the characters that doesn't make it.
Gameplay looks to be sorta like Dizzy the Egg Games (http://www.retrouprising.com/arcade.php?q=dizzy). Kinda point and click.

What are some other games with dog companions. All I can think of is Shadow Dancer (http://www.retrouprising.com/arcade.php?q=shadow+dancer).

Looks fun so far.
I remember some dog companions from this generation. In Fallout 3, one of the companions is Dogmeat, and you also can get a dog in Fallout: New Vegas. Fable 2/3 has a dog companion. Rush from Mega Man is a retro one.

Dragon Age.
Anyhow, saw the title, thought it was a JRPG, it wasn't, mildly disappointed. Intrigued by the description. . . Ubisoft. Aaand i'm gone.

So it's a point and click game with Ubisofts DRM and it's 15 bucks? That's a shame it looked interesting.

Damn, still looks great. I was just thinking about this game the other day and was worried it had been resigned to vaporware.
