Recently I found this game called SMITE. Some of you might know it by now because it has gotten really popular recently. It's a free online game where you duke it out with different Gods/Deities. If you need any help with the game, there are tons of tutorials on Youtube or you could ask me. Honestly, I'm pretty new to the game although I've seen a lot of Youtube videos/streams on it.

SMITE is the online battleground of the gods. Players choose from a diverse cast of deities and use their unique powers to triumph over the opposition in 5v5 team matches. SMITE is a new take on the MOBA genre; rather than observing from above the action, the game’s third person perspective puts players into the thick of combat. Instead of clicking the mouse to move, players use the familiar WASD keys to move and fight their way through SMITE’s dynamic battlegrounds.

However, only about 10 Gods are free and the rest you will have to buy with real cash or with in-game money that you get from playing. 5 characters are free and they have a rotation of 5 more characters that are free so you can try out every character. I don't know how often they rotate. Maybe every day, every week?

If you have ever played Dota or League of Legends, it's similar to that except its 3rd person (camera is behind you). I've never played Dota or LoL but people tell me that they like Smite better because the camera/controls are better.

I dabble in Awesomenauts but that's about it. I kinda lose interest in MOBAs because it's repetitive. Sorry to poo poo this new one without trying it.

Oh it's fine. To be honest, from what I've heard its just a better version of LoL and they added some new stuff and refined some things.

By the way, they have several different modes such as Arena, Conquest, Joust, and Domination. You can read about them on the Smite page.

He's actually pretty good lol. He's a tank. He has so much health and can take a ridiculous amount of damage.

A tip for any newcomers. It's best to start out in practice to get accustomed. I suggest you try out Arena or Assault first and then move onto something more challenging like Conquest or Domination.

Nice job SFF! If you can combine some ultimate's together, your team get pull of a deicide (wiping out the entire enemy team). For example, Hades or Ares pull in their foes with their ultimate. That'd be the perfect time to use Poseiden's Kraken ultimate and hit several enemy Gods at once.

I had some really good games today with Xbalanque. Got two double kills in the same match and went 9/3/21 and helped my team barely win Arena. We had 4 tickets left lol.

I recently mastered Ao Kuang and I think you can get a boatload of favor doing this. Not sure but before I mastered him I had around 5k favor but afterwards I had 13k. So I'm thinking it was either from that or it was just a coincidence in which case I have no idea where 8,000 favor came from.

Nice! My main was Ao Kuang but I mastered him so now I'm more focused on Xbalanque. I found out that mastery does not get you 8k favor. In fact I haven't seen any reason why I suddenly got the 8,000 favor...

I just finished a great comeback for an Arena game. At the beginning, Hercules disconnected so it was only 4 of us. I was Poseiden and had Hades, Ares, and Vamana on my team. We were down about 100 tickets like 5 minutes in. But then we started timing our ultimates together and came back to win with 2 tickets left. Definitely the coolest game I was apart of. I ended up with 10/4/18. Had 2 triple kills and a double kill. Funny enough, I only had 1 triple kill prior to going into the match.

Poseiden's ultimate with Hades or Ares is one of the best in the game. Ao Kuang's goes in there with that.

Went 10/3/10 in Conquest. Met a guy i had faced in Arena prior (which i lost) and we teamed up as Ra/Anubis. good times were had as we won that one

Ra works well with anyone who can stun especially Anubis. If Anubis can stun and use his ultimate, Ra can as well and thats pretty much instant death for the enemy God lol.

New God revealed today. Zhong Kui, The Demon Queller!

I've played in a few matches against him. He seems really good. He doesn't seem too op from I've seen so far which is good.

New free God rotation is: Aphrodites, Artemis, Athena, Bakasura (who's really fun to be imo), and Chronos!

Among the biggest news is Zhong Kui and Guan Yu's revamped character (He changed from magical to physical). Arena has been polished in design and looks aesthetically better. They also re-did some ground attacks for some characters including Ymir and Neith. Some God icons got new designs. The loading screen got a new design as well.

I didn't realize Guan Yu is in this game. From my limited knowledge of the other characters origins it looks like Guan Yu is the only one who was actually a real person, funny.

A lot of really good Gods in this rotation. I suggest you try them all! Cupid is only 1500 favor and the easiest God to buy since he's so cheap. He's also not that bad so if you like him, he's an easy buy after the god rotation is done.

For anyone who cares, Smite officially launched this week and this weekend is the 200k launch tournament. 8 teams, 4 from NA and 4 from EU have been competing. Tomorrow is the Grand Finals at around 4PM. If you want to check it out, watch the stream on Twitch at Smitegame.

The games have been out of this world so far. Really fun to watch the best teams in the world go at it.

Siege doesn't sound that interesting to me but I like the sound of Arena. One thing I hate about MOBAs is how repetitive it all is, 3 lanes/some jungles/spawn area. Having just a big empty room to fight in might be fun.

Arena is free for all. Assault is just one lane. Siege is 2 lanes. Conquest is 3 lanes, typical MOBA gamemode.

Oops, I don't know why I said free for all. It's 5v5 but there are no real objectives. You just kill opponents and try to get your minions into their portal. First team to lose all tickets loses.

Also rip me. Got a quadra with Ullr and got the fifth kill for what I thought would be the penta but I took to long between the kills so it just gave me a quadra and a single kill.

@Psi- I didn't get a chance to answer your questions in Smite.

1) Bakasura is low tier right now. However, a lot of people play him in solo lane because they feel he fits better there. Either way, you level up his 3 first since it is his attack steroid and his main source of damage. His 2 is useful because it heals you and gets stacks for your ult. Try to max your stacks (I think it's 6?) before using your ult that way it is used most effectively.

2) Serqet is not too hard to jungle with. Her clear is through her 1. Line it up so that the targeter goes as close as possible. This will let you hit your target four times. You use your 1 to get across the map faster when you aren't doing objectives. Her 3 also makes her stealth so you can do that for sneaking up on opponents or buff camps for potential ganks. Her 2 is also a great tool as it brings enemies back towards you. Finally, her ult is a ticking bomb. If the player you use it on dies, the poison will spread to everyone around it. The ideal opponent to use it on is an opponent with low health that way you'll get the poison to explode onto everyone else around them. You can do a lot of damage at once this way.
