hi chaps,
it seems to me there are a few competitions on the go at the same time.
it's confusing to us noobs as to what is going on.
are the high score assassin comps still going? i saw no end dates, and there are still new posts.
whats the game masters all about? does it affect anything on the site if i do or do not enter scores there? mastery????
are there any others i should know about?
(i am in the 2013 and march '13 comps already.)

High score assassin's don't end. Just beat a score that was set in that year and you get credit for it.

4. What is game mastering.


Game mastering is our method of tracking games you have beat. Typically this means beating the final boss, flipping the score or levels, completing a full loop of the game, or reaching a kill screen.

5. How to submit a game master.


You must follow all high score rules above.
Check if there are any special requirements needed for the individual game before making the attempt. You may ask about specific games or requirements here (http://www.retrouprising.com/contests/open-contests/game-masters/t9786%22).
You must complete the entire game from start to finish on default or harder settings.
If a game loops, you only need to complete the first loop. That means short loop games such as Donkey Kong will be very quick and easy to beat.
If a game has no ending then flipping the score or level counter or reaching a kill screen will count as mastering the game.
If the original game cartridge featured battery saves you can request (http://www.retrouprising.com/contests/open-contests/game-masters/t9786%22) "SRAM to be enabled" if it is not already. Typical examples of games that used battery saves are The Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy.
If a game provides continues, you may use up to 5. If you use continues your submission will not count as a score, only as mastering.You may NOT increase the number of continues offered via an options screen or code.
Submit a game master is done the same way as submitting a score. Press F12 when you are on a screen that shows you beat the game.
After you submit your mastering you are encouraged to post here (http://www.retrouprising.com/contests/open-contests/game-masters-submissions/t9794/). If you do not then a game mods might mistakingly assume your submission is just a score and not give you credit for mastering it.
If the game has one screen that both shows your score and that you have beat the game then you may submit on that screen and get credit for both at the same time.

whats the game masters all about? "Master" is the old name. We are trying to change the name to "Clear". You might see both words some places which is confusing.

This is our final month of the Game Club Challenges which has been a monthly contest for the past couple years.

For the foreseeable future we will have a new contest every month with prizes similar to the current Capture the Flag contest. It will not always be score based competition.
