Reposting my old post from the old thread since I don't think anyone read it.

Shooting game suggestions for 2013 -

Twinbee (AC) (http://www.retrouprising.com/game-menu/game/6553/) - Simple game. Vertical, shoot enemies, collect bells. 80's game, with the unrefined chunky feeling of the era. Endless marathon game. Not dropping bells is key. There are NES/GB versions but they suck, stick with AC.

Detana Twinbee (PCE (http://www.retrouprising.com/game-menu/game/1021/) or AC (http://www.retrouprising.com/game-menu/game/5000/)) - Vertical. More refined version of Twinbee, flows a lot better + better and more enjoyable audio. Still with the bells system, keep the chain up. 2 loop game (you have to be godlike to finish second loop). AC version is harder (obviously).

1942 (AC) (http://www.retrouprising.com/game-menu/game/4/) - Vertical. Shoot enemies and don't die. Big planes give progressively more points as long as you don't die. Long length, plane chain bonus, and end of stage percentage bonuses give huge amounts of score variation without being luck based. AC only, all other versions suck. 32 stages, ~1 hour length.

Gradius (PCE (http://www.retrouprising.com/game-menu/game/1612/) or AC (http://www.retrouprising.com/game-menu/game/5871/)) - Horizontal. Shoot enemies, power up and don't die. PCE version is more pleasant, but doesn't fit the entire play area on screen. Endless marathon game.

R Type Leo (AC) (http://www.retrouprising.com/game-menu/game/6144/) - Horizontal. Shoot everything and don't die for max score. A rare shooting game that is actually relaxing to play because of the slow pace and chill music.

Rayforce (AC) (http://www.retrouprising.com/game-menu/game/5494/) - Vertical. Lock on to your targets for points. The more lock ons, the better, big targets worth more than smaller ones. EXCELLENT soundtrack and visuals. 7 stages, very difficult at the end.

Another year has passed, that means another year of games could be added, what about the idea of a list composed of all new games? Level the playing field, and promote some new games, win win.

Good point Steven that Lup Lup has already been used in too many contest. How about just removing it and not replacing it. De-Block already fits that genre.

No offense taken, I was aware of that.
I do have some opinions on what the contest needs:

1. Games are as easy to jump in as possible, no complex systems to understand.
2. Games that can have a lot of score variance between sessions.
3. Games that aren't too much luck/randomness based

For example, I like 1943 better than 1942, but it also has a bonus worth 100k at the end of each carrier that may or may not appear. That's a possibility of getting 11 of those bonus items, 1.1 million points. This is a lot to leave up to chance when a typical game tends in the 2.5 - 3 million range if you make it to the end.

1942 has none of that. It's also definitely simpler than Donpachi, and will appeal more to the 80s arcade players on this site.

The other games are the same, pick up and play. I could give in depth explanations of my choices if you want, but I think they become evident if you play them, then compare to the ones currently on the list.

Last year was barren for competition until Dec. 31 (I'll admit that I was greatly irritated by that), which in my opinion defeats the entire purpose of having a year long contest. I definitely did not like that and hope that doesn't happen again. Maybe choosing simpler games will help get people into it more, I don't know. But nobody was discussing the games at all anyways so I figured I'd throw out suggestions.

I like the additions of pinball and sports. Would like to see the inclusion of at least one Clasic Arcade Game like DK, Dig Dug, Galaga, Galaxian etc. Something pre 1985 that most people have heard of before.

Would like to see the inclusion of at least one Clasic Arcade Game like DK, Dig Dug, Galaga, Galaxian etc. Something pre 1985 that most people have heard of before.Adventures of Tron was picked for that genre to throw in an Atari game. A more popular Coin-Op game might be a better choice. I almost picked Joinem (http://www.retrouprising.com/game-menu/game/5615/) » Coin Op (http://www.retrouprising.com/game-menu/coin-op/) because it's a fun easy classic game that most people haven't heard of. A few of the games have a small point spread. In a percent system first place in American Gladiators will be much less valuable than first place in Devil's Crush.

I was surprised more people didn't submit in every game last year since it is a strategic advantage to at least have some score in every game. I was in the top just because I was one of the few to submit in every game.

If we use a percent score system then there is less strategic advantage to submitting in games you are not good at which is a good reason to require all games.

But I think submitting in every game may make fewer people try. Also it will lead to people waiting until the last day to submit their final score and make a dramatic entry when all of their scores show up at the same time.

I'm not a fan of percentage scoring. As you pointed out, it makes some games more important than others.

I like the categories you've picked and even though I'm not a fan, adding a maze category is probably a good idea.

I don't think Adventures in Tron is an Arcade game. There was Tron and Discs of Tron but I've never heard of Adventures in Tron. To stick with a 2600 game, how about something like Jungle Hunt, Gyruss or Space Invaders?

My games were suggestions only, but I do have strong opinions about the two games below:

DonPachi - No. Replace this. Judging from the 19XX and APB scores from last year, high speed intense bullet shooters simply don't fly with the crowd on this site (no offense). Scoring high on them requires very in depth understand of the underlying score system. Users had a year to play and nobody else broke 1.5 million on either of them. That's why I suggested games with no mechanic more complex beyond shooting the enemy. In that regard probably Rayforce is too much as well, don't use it.

TMNT - The AC version is way too hard imo. Last year's Xmen is the same style, and in the score chart there is a clear split between "people who could beat stage 2" and "people who couldn't beat stage 2". Judging from my experience with this game, this will happen again if you leave it. It's why I suggested an alternative. It doesn't have to be Moonwalker, you could choose Streets of Rage, Double Dragon, heck even the SNES version of TMNT4 would be better.

I do think maze games are (or were) enough of a genre that one should be included. The big one of course Ms./Pac Man, but I don't think we should go for the super obvious choice. I suggested Pac-mania but there are plenty others.

You should get rid of the lightgun category. The mouse isn't really a good substitute, and it's not really a proper way to play the game. If you must leave it in, for the love of god pick something better than Lethal Enforcers, that game was crap the day it came out. Point Blank?

Get rid of the dungeon crawler, or pick another game. Shiren doesn't save and the high score table does not work correctly, making it a totally luck based affair, which is bad. Maybe Gauntlet will work, but it being a coin op game it will be time based, and I don't know if there are any good choices for score. Taloon is really the only kind of game for pure score attack dungeon crawling.

The puzzle games were just suggestions, I haven't played Deblock. I think they are good for contest, without being based random luck or Vs. CPU AI randomness. There's also Puzzle Bobble 1, 2, 3.

Flicky isn't single screen, it'd be more suited to the run and jump category. A single screen replacement would be something more like Bubble Bobble.

Also, percentage scoring is bad. Don't use it, last years style was ideal.

I agree with most of what Seahawk said. A suggestion for an easy to understand shump is Star Force (either NES or coin op) and a suggestion for a pretty cool maze game would be Lady Bug.

@Ninja Gaiden. There are people here that have cleared it and still not come close to the world record. I assume a high score requires lots of point pressing and farming within the time limit which is not fun.

Take a look at Dungeon Magic - Arcade/Coin-Op (http://www.retrouprising.com/game-menu/game/7892/) for the beat'em up.

I think Lethal Enforcers 2: Gun Fighters - Sega Genesis (http://www.retrouprising.com/game-menu/game/2164/) is a decent suggestion to add an extra genre.

What about Binary Land - Nintendo Entertainment System (http://www.retrouprising.com/game-menu/game/457/) for the maze game?

I wonder if the Genesis version of R.C. Pro-Am goes dark like the NES version randomly does.

For those who are unaware in at least the NES version, randomly the game will turn the screen black so you cannot see the track or the map of the track, but the AI will have no problem running the course.

edit: I tried to find a picture of this online but I'm not having luck. I can't even find a mention of it anywhere, but I know it happened at least on my cart of it.

I'd like to suggest RC Pro-am 2, they are both awesome games, but 2 is better.

I have to disagree about TMNT Turtles in Time. I think a some very difficult games should stay in place because there should be clear divisions in a competition - not everyone clustered together due to having mostly easy games. Also, TMNT is a very popular series, so might draw in people who wouldn't care about the contest otherwise. If there is an insistence to change it, the only other one I could think of would be the arcade AVP. That's also popular.

Personally, I don't think the difficulty of a game (SHMUPS included) should keep a game from being considered. That's my view anyway. If a game requires someone to learn the system,the active players who want to play have a whole year to do it.

The only caveat I would add is from last year's games, I think alot of people steered clear of Speed Attack because it was in another language and not clear how to even operate the game at all. However, I think that is different from excluding a game because it's challenging in general.

I have to disagree about TMNT Turtles in Time. I think a some very difficult games should stay in place because there should be clear divisions in a competition - not everyone clustered together due to having mostly easy games.

Personally, I don't think the difficulty of a game (SHMUPS included) should keep a game from being considered. That's my view anyway. If a game requires someone to learn the system,the active players who want to play have a whole year to do it.

+1 on TMNT. I think some of the games should have hard bottlenecks like Xmen did or Donkey Kong does (screen 13 or something is considered the barrier for 99% of players)

The only requirement I have for any SHUMP is speed. Some shumps (Tiger Heli for NES) are so slow, your plane has no speed.

I had fun competing with everyone, but especially Elrod on this one too. He always brings the game, and it helped push me to beat the game - which I always wanted to do. That reminds me, I want to get back to trying to take the WR in that, so that RU will have the new WR in place. Maybe I can do that sometime in the next couple of months. I think it will take about 5-6 hours to do.

I like Final Fight as a game Jack, but I would raise an concern on this one because it is fairly easy to farm. Fun game, but I could see where the top scorer would just be the one who can (legally) farm the most in the timer. That's not a whole lot of fun to me.

I agree with Essie on this. I think a few more games is better than less. I think less games will make people play less because they might be discouraged and think they have no chance if someone sets very good scores in a few games and thus seemingly sews up the competition. More games mean more people can do well because the scores are spread out between more games.

More genres can be added but only one game per genre.

Maybe it's just my own view, but I see a game like Dungeons and Dragon (from the 2012 contest) or Dungeon Magic in a different genre from something like TMNT. They both are side-scrollers, but with the addition of magic and strategy, it creates a different game play experience to me. Maybe I'm off there. To me, it would be like not allowing Donkey Kong because Tron is already in.

Tnat might be a good idea. That way you could also really diversify within the genre. For example, we could have a bullet hell game, and then another shooter that is different (i.e. like a side scroller or something). That could add variety and encourage more people to play.

I think we should try to include lots of lesser known games, we don't want the final results for games essentially written in stone as soon as they are announced. For example, as great a competition game as DK is, if we selected it it's basically free points for Mcmanus. Not to say that we need to only take games that haven't been contested in the past, but we should be conscious of giving people too big of an advantage to start with.

Why do you think these are too short? I thought some of these games looped? AVP has many levels. I think it's the average length for a beat-em-up.

To get close to the world record you have to use a glitch which involves going offroad but keeping max speed up. For this reason I dont think it should be in the contest

On Outrun you have to abuse a glitch where you go offroad and constantly change shift between high and low gear to keep max speed, it's not a good game to go for the world record.

WB is right about Super Punchout for the SNES, the scores reset after each circuit, It is not a good title for score chasing.

I can also confirm Rush'N Attack does loop after finishing it starting at a harder level each loop. I think it is a good contest game as there is an invisible timer and point pressing can be done but you have to be really careful or you run out of time.

Id guess it does not loop, the WR is apparently just over 3 million, while your first place sits at around 2.6.... just a guess of course.

The only game I think we should remove is chicken shift, and that's just based on the fact I don't find it fun.

I may try it later in Full Mode to see what happens after you beat it. If it loops, I don't see why it couldn't be in.

Why do you think these are too short? I thought some of these games looped? They do loop but they have all been beaten here before. I think games that haven't been beaten before, like X-Men are much more exciting. When you beat X-Men we were all amazed and rooting for you. When you beat AVP we will all be expecting it. Different level of excitement. If the second loop doesn't increase in difficulty then it is just a marathon.

I appreciate that. It was a fun run, but if a game loops I don't see how that would be different from something like Frogger that is also the same levels over and over. AVOP is pretty tough too, so not everyone will beat it. I haven't played this in 3-4 years, so I don't know if it gets tougher in successive loops, but it's a popular game. Not sure why the rule would be applied to Beat-em-ups, but not other genres.

I think this is sufficient. I wouldn't think it's your responsibility to constantly remind people of the standings when it's right on the contest page for anyone who cares to look. I had almost no time at all last year (I literally gamed for only 4-5 days including the last 1.5 days when I actually played in the GOTY compeition), but I would check now and then to see the standings. It's not hard to do.

A couple people should play Battlantis (http://retrouprising.com/game-menu/game/4947/) and comment. I have the high score and can only get to about level 3. If all of the top scores get stuck around level 3 or 5 then it is going to be boring and have a small score spread. If a few people can destroy my current high score then it will be interesting.

A couple people should play Dune 2: The Building of a Dynasty (http://retrouprising.com/game-menu/game/1180/) and comment. The score resets every level so you have to play a couple dummy levels before reaching an advanced level where you can get a good high score. Besides that one flaw the game is perfect for this but that is a big flaw. I am also ok with making a new rule that we will add all points from all levels to create a total score. This is a superior scoring system for this type of game but more work for the mods. It would also affect other games with similar score systems such as California Games.

Does anyone know if there is any problems with Quiz & Dragons. I know trivia games often have a problem of no randomization or repeating questions.

Quiz and Dragons is fine, it has a crap ton of questions as far as I can tell and randomizes them pretty well. I've played it a lot and kept getting new questions far more than I got repeat ones.

If Dune 2 goes (which I'm kind of in favor for it leaving) I suggest replacing it with a game that screams retro. One of the following coin-op games:

Yes.

To me that is too much extra work especially in a long playthrough. I think Dune 2 should be out.
Since you will be one of the ones doing the extra work, I will leave the rule as is and veto the game from the contest.

I'll work on making it easier to score these types of games this year and it can be used next year.

Karnov looks too easy to max out at 999,999. Several people have done it at TG and MARP so I assume at least a couple of people would here.

The Arcade Karnov is one of those games where once you learn what to do and what items to use exactly where, it becomes really easy. Until that point it will seem like an extremely hard game.

I'd recommend against Bagman as a tournament title. High scores on the game are the result of very tedious point pressing techniques that are also time consuming. Take a look at the replays of the top scores at MARP and tell me if you really want to play or watch this sort of gameplay.

I think all of these would be ok, except for Q*bert. Q*bert is an easy marathon on default settings so I'd strike that off the list since it is just a test of marathon endurance. Using 5-men only settings is better for tournament play and would probably be ok if you really wanted to use Q*bert.

Frogger has no point-pressing, is easy to start playing, and meets your criteria.

Donkey Kong, Dig Dug and Dk Jr all have kill screens, but they are far into the game and not many, if any, players will reach them. They all have some point pressing, but it isn't that tedious unless you're already playing at a very high level. DK Jr has the most tedious point pressing of this group.

Dig Dug and Burgertime are both largely pattern games, although that isn't necessarily a bad thing. You do have to learn patterns on them if you want to score high and run a lot of boards.

I think all of these games meet the criteria of having no max score, being quick and easy to start playing, and being good for competition.

My pick of these would be Frogger, but then I'm biased.

Another repeat performer is Bearhawk, trying to top his 12th from 2012. Rounding out the top 5 is Kong, holding the same spot he finished with. The new face in this top ten is Sonic Vinny

Absent from the polls are inaugural winner Barra, perhaps waiting until the rules were set in stone. Runner up Seahawk is also missing, but that may not be for long. The other big name missing is *whisper* Elrod (It's bad luck to say his name out loud. The last guy who did found all 6 of his first place scores had become second by morning. Street Fighter 3, 3rd strike is in my opinion the best fighting game of all time. It's not currently on the site, but if it could be added...
Aside from that I've always enjoyed the alpha series. So, SF3 third strike, SF3 double impact, SF 3 new generation, SF alpha 3... failing all those (none are on the site) then really any other coin-op SF, or the NA version of the one that is up there now.

I would like to throw in a last minute rule suggestion. I think we should have a minumum games played requirement for your scores to count. The reason for this is to remove the scores from people who really aren't playing in the tournament. Someone may discover RU later in the year and submit a really good score on one of the games and not even know the game was in the tournament. It's my opinion that peoples scores who don't want to or can't participate in the tournament should not influence the outcome. You could make it real easy and just say you have to submit scores on five of the games before your scores count or you could do like what TG used to do for their DECA tournaments and require people to submit scores on every game before they are eligible for winning. I prefer the easy requirement so I don't have to play some of the games I don't enjoy and would only score 1 point on anyways.

I like the selection of games this year, and there's a couple of anecdotes I wanted to share -

* The "layer 10/12 contact Mamedev" messages are a known issue with Quiz & Dragons. They don't effect the game. However some of the answers are incorrect, eg Is Canada really the biggest country in the world? Also, Spielberg has won an Academy Award since the game was made... Quiz & Dragons: Capcom Quiz Game - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quiz_%26_Dragons:_Capcom_Quiz_Game) lists some other apparent errors.

Breaking 2013 contest news...first place is now not Jack Bando, so no one really cares...er I mean, new to RU game permafrost. Congrats. Jack Bando is in a close 2nd, looking to make a comeback. StevenCassidy has entered the top ten and top 3. In fourth is cheetah32p, followed by RU mainstays RevJ, DB Cooper, and Razeluxe.

Last year's champ has entered the fray, now at 16th. Also "Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo" or "SSF2T" or "Capcom is the reason Valve can't count to 3" has been replaced by Marvel vs Capcom 1. And the people who couldn't do

I will give some info I think it somewhat helpful about Quiz & Dragon's

-Characters:


Fighter: He can regain lost health slightly faster than the others, but it's barely an improvement.
Wizard: Yeah he can let you choose the subject of the next quiz, but unless you have vast amounts of knowledge about a specific subject it's not really a help.
Amazon: Not only does she seem to regain health almost as fast as the Fighter, she can also reduce the number of answers to 3 or even 2. She is the one you probably want to use.
Ninja: He can sometimes cause double damage but it seems to rarely work and it's not worth it.

-Make your way towards inns whenever possible. You can regain up to 3 points of health if you answer his question correctly. If you miss one question he'll keep asking so long as you have health.


-Elf: Answer her question and she will give you something.



Bonus points
Restore health
Scroll to choose subject of next quiz
Sword to reduce answers to 3 or 2
Ring that tells you the correct answer
A shortcut directly to the boss.

-All of the above except the shortcut can be randomly rewarded after defeating an enemy.

No problem. If the wizard works for you, I'd stick with it. I seem to do better with random categories myself as it lessens the chance I get hit with a string of questions I have no clue about.

Oh, I forgot to add this to my tips:

-Remember this game is old. Some of the answers were right when the game was released, but are not anymore. I've only seen this on a couple of questions so it may not be too big of a problem.

I also like the wizard with science as a topic. Music as a second topic, it asks about some cool bands. I bet a few of us are keen on science.

One thing that took me a bit to figure out is how to pick the trivia topic questions on the right hand side - you need to hit the button for player 2. On my keyboard the four buttons to use (to pick a trivia topic from the right hand list) are [ENTER], +, -, and *, all on the numeric keypad thingy.

Just in case someone out there is as slow as me to figure these things out :face:

LOL....thx for the vote of confidence...but there are some great gamers here...and early in year where others are likely to start up playing these games soon.

I saw TRB_Metroidteam(think his name was Volter or something like that..so sorry I can't remember your exact name..been years since we corresponded.) has entered in now...very fierce competitor I have known from MARP from past years.

Others are here like George Strain that is one to seriously watch out for but hasn't been playing much yet...

once spring then summer weather hits I likely wont be playing as often as I have been the past few weeks..crappy weather and currently poor(both cars needed repairs this month, furnace...got to get new refrigator this weekend etc.) so little to do but stay home and play games. :P

I mostly have just been having fun playing various games again since joining retrouprising.com. :D

TBH I think this is a good thing. It wouldnt be fun for us if every game suited you, nor would it be fun for you if none of them did.

Quiz & Dragons is hard. If I have no idea then I guess at quickly as possible. Some runs I have gotten 0. But have had a couple of lucky runs up to 100k with only knowing 1 or 2

I actually cleared it twice. The first time the score was too low so I just submitted the end for the mastery credit.

I beat it again later and just screen grabbed after I finished the race with the score visible. You can see it in the view all scores section, says it's still pending approval.

There is still room for a better score, I've seen the WR at either 5.9 million or 7 million depending on where you look.

Didn't take long for Razeluxe to beat my score again.

Yeah, there are a couple courses where even if you run perfectly you'll finish with 2 seconds or less on the clock it seems.

The key I have for Monaco is to get as many positions as you can before that race, then just drive very cautiously through the chicanes. I usually gain very few positions in that race which probably costs me points but I can't get more points if I don't finish so it's a tradeoff.

you always can hit TAB key and check the input (this game) settings to see what the controls are...maybe they are out of whack for you and you just need to reset them.

I just use my left/right arrow keys for steering and "Z" for gas pedal and "C" for gear change...which are all the defaults I think. perhaps you changed them from that in another game which would carry over into this one if you changed the general settings versus the "this game" settings.

The only thing that's changed about the top 5 is the point spread. TRB_MetroidTeam is still in the lead, but by 71 instead of last month's 18, and Permafrost has doubled his lead over 3rd. Sawys, Stevencassidy13 and Razeluxe finish out the top 5 with less points than before. We have a new top 10 man in hackeynut at 7th; while Jack Bando, RevJ,Cheetah, and d3scride are still hanging in there.

Also big thanks to TRB since I only do this monthly or when there's a leader change and he was nice enough to give me no work from 3-2-13 to 3-31-13.

I made it! 3rd place. Wont last for long but it will be good while it lasts.



To get second I need to gain 48 points on Rick.
I think I can get 30 in Lode Runner pretty easily.
I think 17 more in New Zealand Story should be easy too.
Then I just need to bump one other score a little bit for the last two points.

The amount of point pressing I did in this contest is ridiculous.

Some tips.
AvP. The boomerang disc thing gives you more points than other attacks. Eating food when you have full health gives you lots of points. Using your super weapon gives you less points. The first predator is my favorite. Pressing down and jump will do a sweep kick that kills snakes and other low enemies.

Devil's Crush - First enter the star portals in the middle screen to open the center demon girl's mouth. Takes about 7 times. Do not enter. Go to the bottom screen and stay there. Enter the bottom center castle to get the bottom ball block. Then break the casket bumpers open. Play safe and slow and try to avoid everything else. Hitting the caskets enough times will light a multiplier light. If you have the demon girl's mouth open when the 60 turns on you get a 100M points. Then get multipliers to 100 and you get an extra life. Then lose your ball in a side gutter to reset the multipliers. Repeat.

Dungeon Magic. There are lots of tricks in this game. You should watch a couple videos. You can get on the roof in the second screen and get get the 2 chests. In the screen with the flower enemies if you break the statue then you can go behind the trees to a secret room. The top left chest in that room has the same weapon you start with. Equip it first because you get a 200K bonus for picking up the same weapon you are currently carrying. The other chests have magic weapons. Holding the attack button powers up your attack. Holding it until you glow gold powers it up again. Press both buttons for a super attack (limited supply). You can sometimes get extra super attacks by throwing boxes on camp fires. The wizard is the most powerful character late in the game but he is almost useless until you at least get a magic rod (secret room behind man eating flowers).

Lode Runner. Watch some videos. There are lots of bonuses. There is a hidden robot on every level that gives you between 3K and 8K. You get a 10K bonus for not killing any enemies and another 10K for not entrapping any enemies. You get 1K for landing on an enemies head. You get bonuses for taking gold from enemies that you just trapped that multiplies if you do it more than once at a time. You get a 3K bonus for walking over 3 trapped enemies. The time bonus for finishing a level is pretty big especially if the time is still blue. You get a 10K bonus for trapping an enemy without killing them. The levels are always the same so watch a movie and memorize them.

MvC - Combos give you huge points. I use Warmachine and QCF HP+MP. That is the easiest decent combo I found but there are better, more complicated combos.

NZS - there are secret warps on just about every level. I suggest watching a couple videos to see different ones. Sadly the easiest way for a good score is to shoot spawning enemies until you nearly run out of time. There is a time bonus for finishing levels quickly but because of the warps you rarely need to finish a level so use all of your time to farm points.

When you play using scoremode can you at any time press F5 or the "ArcadeOX Score Mode" link to start over. Many times I start a game, get annoyed when I lose a live to soon and start over. Is this allowed (no max) ?

Reviews? How do you think this contest has gone? Should anything change next year? Did you like/dislike any of the game choices?

Anyone planning to stir the pot in December? I still haven't given up on placing in top 3.

I'd like to play a bit,t a lot of time, but at least put up a score in each game.

As far as next year, what about introducing new games half way through the year, have like a "halftime" so to speak. Just add some to the list. Or maybe add 1 game a month...

One problem is we have almost finished publicly picking all the games for next year and I don't want to start over just so they can be a mystery.

Sounds like you haven't played Devil's Crush very much if you think it is slow. Not a slow game at all.

out of any list of 15-20+ games you likely will have a few that are "boring" or "annoying".

I think the trivia games are pointless...just play it over and over again to the point you have memorized most of the answers to score higher.

sort of want to play a bit more for end of year..but sort of lost interest also in these games and think regardless how much I play I can't take 1st now. maybe could get 2nd back. I submitted good scores for all the games on the list I had any interest in and still have a few I have not submitted any score for and are for type of game I really don't want to play them to even submit a score.

in terms of taking hours to play...well if you want short games, that really restricts the list of what is available. since you have an entire year to play and set scores for them...see the length of a game as long as not too excessive(ie beyond 10-12 hours) is fine.

That Devil's Crush score I got think took me 1.5-2 hours max. it can be a very fast scoring game if you get the multiplier ball into the bonus games. I think on that run I had built up to a 6x ball then did the 8 mil one for a nice 48 mil on 1 bonus game.

I fell from 4th to 7th in the past couple days. Barra made it into the top 4. I don't think he was in the top 10 last week.

Pointing this out so no one is caught off guard or angry after the contest is over. Barra and TRB found a trick on level 3 that greatly increases their score. This trick is not difficult at all but it doesn't break any rules. If you want to duplicate the trick, donate a dollar or more so you can watch score movies or go to marp and watch the top score there.

joz and incubator hacked onto main page standings? If you visit the scores page you see nothing of them...also not in latest scores from today...so how did they vault up like that except hacked?

I won't do that trick...it's not the way to play the game. they all played to round 3. I played to round 15 showing more skill at the game and playing it straight up as intended... it is what it is I guess.

well to be fair permafrost hasn't done anything since earlier in this year. I understand what he is saying. But as you mention Kong it is only one game and it really has no meaning otherwise.

Thank you Barra. Thank you Gimme. Thank you to any else that congratulate. I am taking a long break. Almost beat the donpachi score as the ball dropped but i do what i do best and that's mess easy things up.

Anyhow. See whoever on the 6th. Will not be playing nearly as much as i did last year.

On a light note. This is a wonderful site. Especially those who miss the golden era days or arcades in general.
