This is all kinds of awesome but you can be sure there's $$$ to be made off it somehow. In a few months they'll probably sell a dlc of the content they cut from the game.

The download is really slow, probably because a ton of people are downloading it. Be patient, or wait for another time.

This may sound awful, but I personally don't like the game, and think it's unplayable. The game suffers from what happens a lot for indie games, that when you press 2-3 different buttons at the same time, it doesn't recognize all of the button presses.
Example: Charging your x-buster, jumping and holding right. The last command (Holding right) is ignored.
That's bread and butter for a mega man game, the sound was also cutting out during the first battle I had (Ryu) because of all the different noises and sounds apparently interfering with the music so bad that it was causing lag.
It's great that a company who is notoriously bad at selling content that should be free went ahead and endorsed this, but there are plenty of things that should've been polished here before release. Compare this with the first edition of cave story (Still free ironically enough) and you'll understand what I mean if you don't already.
That's my two cents, I wish the game was more enjoyable in my eyes.

@thetedster,
First, it's the Mega Buster; not the X-buster.
Second, I don't have that problem with the controls. Are you sure it's not your keyboard? Some keyboards or heck, even OS's, have a weird feature where if you press more than two or three keys are one time, it 'locks out' so to speak. My old keyboard used to do that.
It's not necessarily the game's fault, though I wouldn't say it's -yours- either. Try changing the controls maybe?

1. This is not made by Capcom. This was a fan-made game that simply got Capcom's support.
2. It is very well done. controls are very tight and everything works like it should. There is the occasional bug though, but I haven't run into one that hindered me in any way. was more of a "huh. wouldja look at that" type thing.
3. I personally find the stages wayyyyy too easy. Oh well.
@thetedster
I imagine that's just your keyboard or something. None of my friends or I have any problems.

Yeah, my initial reaction was that it looks like crap, I just kept it to myself as to not rain on anyone's parade.

It's really not bad. Controls are tight, everything looks decent, sprites look pretty nice in fights. Like I said, my only gripe is that the stages themselves are too easy and then the bossfight is really difficult. But it's not that big and it's free so you've got nothing to lose.

My major concern was with the backgrounds, not up to par with even Megaman 1's standards, so then I thought, where else did they cut corners?

Well it is just a fan-made game. can't expect everything I suppose.

Assuming you are using a keyboard, this is called "Ghosting", a lot of keyboards can only take a certain number of key presses at a time. If you game a lot on a PC you should really look into getting a more high end gaming keyboard (And I'm not talking some piece of junk with silly lights and dozens of macro keys with terrible key spacing, I mean like a solid mechanical anti-ghosting keyboard).
