my search for a new server continues

since Seahawk cant afford our own server anymore, i've been searching for a public one we can all play on till we can come up with our own again. Sofar we have one at JMS.clanservers.com:25615 but im getting frustrated with the people on it,and the fact that they keep screwing with plugins and crashing the server. so now im hoping on other servers again to find something better, ill post more ip addresses if i find something good

I joined a server and the people seem really nice but it's strictly survival vanilla as far as I could tell. I only played for a couple hours though, too many other games distracting me. I'll try it again soon and let you guys know if it's cool.

Would you guys be interested in joining a mostly survival vanilla server if I found a good one? I say mostly because I've yet to find one that is really without any kind of mods. I don't care if there's some mods but I noticed that when these servers add mods they tend to get all silly with it and/or strip away the challenge. That's what makes it boring for me.

I can't help with any money for the time being. I'm not homeless or anything but money is tight and I'm not spending any of it on video games. Maybe in a few months I could justify it. What I lack in money I can make up for in activity and enthusiasm though. I miss our servers, we always have fun together and we've had no drama really. :love:

@UC- Part of the reason I love the game is the exploration. Building is cool too but no other game has a comparable free roam, above and below the surface.

the one me and brawl are playing on right now only has a lockette type thing and /home settings i've been playing it quite abit since it has an age restriction of 18, and is a bit under populated at times also its whitelisted so you have to get approved first

Well there's usually only a few people on at any given time, the spawntown is quite large, and they have a rather nice and large nether hub

its more of a trust on age XD but theres usually like 3-5 people on including me and brawl,but thats active theres been many people on it. the server is very spread out, spawn town is the most developed part, the actual world size is 2.3gigs if i remember the admin saying right

But I want something less-so temporary, you know. I'd kind of like a final solution as to something more like one of us running a server down the road and publicizing it. I'll rephrase that, I'm fine with some other random server if we stick to it for a decent amount of time (like a few months give or take). But in the end, I still like one of us running it. I'll even run one when I get a new computer, I can just use this one to run a server on the side. I'm not getting a new computer for a while though, 6-12 months probably if I had a guess.

I can pretty much agree to all of this. Not really a fan of PVP though.

BM, cam and I are close together around -2610 by 2950, you should be able to see BMs stone house clearly on top of the hills. Mine is next to him in the dense trees and cam is NW of us in the plains. Katz and Tenser are on random islands, although Katz is pretty close to our spot too.

mc.matvor.com is a pretty good server, always lots of people on. The staff isn't annoying and is actually quite helpful and welcoming.

My only issue is the server spams chat a bit too much but it's still better than dead silence in my opinion.

@DB: When you find a plot of land, make sure you ask an admin or Mod+ to claim it for you so no one else can grief it or go through your chests.

Hello, Matvorians. First of all let me say sorry for the last week or so, when the server uptime has been low and the lag has been high. I'm sure you all know the reasons. The huge map file, and thousands of pets that players have. Also the map was corrupted when we switched over to the new host. So because of this, we are unable to continue with the map we have. I apoligize to everyone who has worked hard on this map. We all have. But you need to keep in mind, this is a virtual world. Nothing in it is real. The things that are real are the time we've spent building with friends, and even strangers. The great community that we've built is really what MatvorCraft is about, not the things we've crafted. So the map will be reset. Maybe a few things such as spawn and the shops will be kept for a little while.

What we need from you:

-Seed Suggestions. We want this map to be better than any we've ever had!

-Patience. MatvorCraft will likely be down for a day or so. We apoligize. While it is down, connecting to mc.matvor.com will re-direct you to a temporary server. It will either be vanilla, or a minigame such as paintball. We will try and set this up later.

-Loyalty. We are very sorry for this map reset, again. However we would love it for you to stand by us, and never leave MatvorCraft, as many of you had said it's like a home and a family to you.

Thanks for being so understanding guys. You have all been like a family to me, I really mean it. Even thought I'm not the most social person because of the work load on the server, I want you all to know I love you for being the best server community ever.

I think only Tenser really plays on it regularly. DN and BM are also members. I've barely played on it but it seemed cool besides the lag issue. There's no whitelist you can fire it up next time you're on and check it out.

So in 1.6.2 there's a server lag issue when zombies can't path towards their target. It causes each zombie mob to continuously do path-finding checks with the server over and over again.

Given this knowledge there was only one thing for me to do...

Night ran for so long because of the lag (30 minutes or so) a mod had to force daylight.

I was wondering why all the mobs seemed to be moving in slow mo, it wasn't just the zombies. I went inside after a while because I was worried the lag might get me killed.

I haven't been on much but I do wanna build still. I'm a little torn though, I wanna build a big structure in the nearby desert but I'm not sure how well it will turn out. What do you guys think of some fancy towers enclosed in a high smooth sandstone wall?

I think as long as you give the wall shape and texture it'll look fine.

Could you at least hop on soon and mark out your plot with some cobble pillars? If I have to collect a bunch of sand from the desert I can mke sure where I'm collecting is not visible from your build.

I'm really, really enjoying building on the server. I think the fact that I got my house done early has helped out a lot because apparently my favorite thing to do in Minecraft right now is landscaping for some odd reason.

I started to mark out a spot with torches but I want to make it at least twice as big. I purposely picked out a spot away from where you'd have to walk to get to that spawner. Btw there's also a giant desert close by your house. I don't know which cardinal direction but it's directly behind where my ugly little house is.
