I can't think of anything atm but I vote no to the ones you listed. Were you 100% serious about those?

Yup, they might not be in the top 10 necessarily, but they are definitely worth mentioning.

Try to ignore your own personal preferences for this. Just straight up amazing songs, even if you are embarrassed to admit it, say it anyway.

We should limit the amount that we can all nominate at one time, then take a vote to cut down the ones selected. After doing that, I say we just repeat the process. That we can cover plenty of songs submitted by different people without getting overwhelmed. Maybe we should make multiple topics for multiple rounds?

Gymnopédie No.1 by Erik Satie is my all time favorite song by far, so I'll have to stick to that.

@Steven- I'm not embarrassed I just don't think those three songs should be on a top ten list. I like them though. Not my favorite Elton song though. Also this-
total eclipse of the heart a mighty style - YouTube
What about "Your Song"?

My picks, with help from my wife-

Meat Loaf, Paradise by the Dashboard Light - You don't hear story driven rock like this anymore.

Journey, Don't Stop Believing - everyone likes this song right?

Etta James, At Last

Ben E. King, Stand By Me

OFFICIAL - Somewhere Over the Rainbow 2011 - Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole - YouTube

Johnny Cash, When The Man Comes Around

The Beatles, My Life

Ok that's enough sentimental, somewhat depressing, songs for now.

We should try to be diverse about this. How about some rap?

We need to nominate the weirdest song ever, Hocus Pocus:

Better way to do this. Everyone picks 10 songs, no doubles. We compile a list and allocate each song 10 points. Everyday each person can subtract 2 points from the list (2 from one song or split between two songs) and add 1 point to a song on the list.

Last ten standing wins.

These are not supposed to reflective of our tastes in music. We are not listing our favorite songs. (nobody would have heard of any-ones favorites for the most part) We are just listing songs that are really good, timeless classics.

The only restriction I think we should have is excluding modern songs. I don't think a song can honestly be listed as one of the best songs of all time if it has not withstood the test of time.

Exactly. if I wanted nothing but old songs, I'd just go to the "What song are you listening to" Since that's all that anyone posts there.

Age doesn't have to do anything with the quality of the song.
Even if that was the case, I'm sure you like some Beach
Boys/Beatles stuff.

Post what you want to post, it doesn't matter.
You post alot in the "What song are you listening to?" thread, so
I'm sure you have a bunch of songs you'd consider to be top 10 worthy.

You were right to edit that, it wasn't very nice. There's no reason to get nasty with other people because of their choice in music. The object of this thread from what I gather is not for everyone to list their personal favorite songs but what they feel would be recognized as the top ten songs that most can generally agree on.

If it was personal favorites, not many of us would be able to agree on anything at all. I'm not a fan of Led Zepplin, Rolling Stones, AC/DC, the Beatles, or Kiss but I'm not so narrow minded that I can't recognize why other people would like them. See where I'm going here?

Here's mine. Going to try to keep it varied.

Nujabes - Counting Stars - YouTube

I like the live version a lot more, but I figure I should just post official versions Deine Lakaien - Wasted Years - YouTube

Maybe more later. I keep getting distracted by new music I'm finding. lol
