Doubtful. They usually segregate sex criminals anyways and with him being so high profile I doubt he'll be at much risk. He won't be having fun but it's not like they're gonna throw him to the general population.

Yeah, he'll get them to put him in protective care, since people are never too happy (to put it nicely) with these kinds of guys, especially other criminals.

I don't think it's something the prisoner can request unless there's a specific threat made. I think it's just standard procedure with high risk inmates. I could be wrong though.

Not sure how it works in the states, but I know more than enough stories here. Someone like this usually gets thrown in general population. Either A: other prisoners hear what he did and something escalates from there immediately (usually the other prisoners just attack the guy), causing the guards to throw the guy in protective care, or B: the guy receives a threat, runs to the guards and gets himself thrown in protective care.

It would make sense to just throw high risk prisoners in protective care though.

Good.

Ive met sportscaster Bob Costas twice. The second time was about three weeks after he interviewed Sandusky (if you haven't heard it, Costas really let's him have it). I asked him about that interview and he basically said (and I'm sorry mods, I'm quoting) fuck that guy

It's good that he's going to prison for life. I'm curious what's going to
happen to Penn State concerning how they ignored that this was happening.

It's more than ignored, they actively covered it up as well.

I wouldn't be opposed to the football program getting a vacation for a year or 2, but the NCAA might not have grounds to do so.

happen to Penn State concerning how they ignored that this was happening.

The Penn State Board of Trustees fired football coach Joe Patero (who died in January) and forced School President Graham Spanier to resign last fall.

Penn State Senior Vice President Gary Schlutz and Athletic Director Timothy Curley are both suspended by PSU have been indicted on perjury charges.

I know that at least one of the victims has already filed a civil suit against Sandusky and PSU, I imagine many others will follow.

Finally, the charity that Sandusky started "The Second Mile" will be closings its doors. Its president and CEO has already resigned. Many of the victims came into contact with Sandusky through this charity.

I would be shocked if the NCAA did anything.

Joe-Pa and Sandusky are gone and the three administrators that covered it up will all ultimately be fired by the university. So, if the NCAA does anything, it will basically be hurting several hundred athletes (and i'm not just counting football, all of the sports there are run with football revenue) that had nothing to do with it.
Plus it is PSU, big time money maker. The NCAA doesn't want to mess with that.

Good to see him going to jail for what he did.
It's a shame they aren't going to throw him into the general population, he really deserves it.

Sandusky’s Inmates Reportedly Sing “Hey, Teacher, Leave Those Kids Alone” When Lights Go Out

http://cosbysweaters.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/jerry-300x235.jpg (http://cosbysweaters.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/jerry.jpg)Former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky was convicted Friday of 45 counts of sexually abusing 10 boys. He was immediately sent to Centre County Correctional Facility, where he received a welcome fit for a prisoner of his kind. Andrew Strickler of The Daily (http://www.thedaily.com/page/2012/06/24/062412-news-sandusky-folo-1-2/) reports that according to a fellow inmate at the time, as soon as the lights went out on the first night in jail, his fellow prisoners serenaded Jerry.
Other prisoners were barred from communicating directly with Sandusky, but they could see him. And when the lights went out, inmates serenaded the disgraced coach with a famous line from Pink Floyd’s “The Wall.”
“At night, we were singing ‘Hey, teacher, leave those kids alone,’ ” Josh said, adding that everyone knew who Sandusky was because inmates had access to television and newspapers
We have a feeling that this is the least of Jerry’s worries.
