I am sad now. I love the first one, the second one is a step down but it's not terrible, and I like to pretend the 3rd doesn't exist(eventhough I have it in a box set)

Apparently Huge Laurie has signed on to play the CEO of OCP.

... I won't buy that for a dollar.

People are way too critical of remakes and reboots. Wait until you see some footage or they cast Justin Beiber as Robocop before you condemn it.

True, you got to give it a chance, for example I hear that little girls just love the remake of My Little Pony.

I think that's kind of a bad example. The vast majority of little girls haven't seen the original show and the devotion to that as a classic show/movie just doesn't compare to that of Robocop.

I'm still not sure how I feel about this remake. DB and Steven have good points and I think we need to see a little bit before we take our predictions with certainty.

Can't be much worse than the original.

You gotta consider the fact that they will be able to add many additional special effects that they couldn't do in the past. I would give it a shot.....maybe wait for it to come out on rental.

**EDIT: Just thought about this, but what about the TMNT remake that they are planning on making? From what I hear they won't be teenage or mutant......I mean....WTF? I understand making a remake, but don't F with the storyline. That will make it to where I will not watch a movie.....it will probably still make a ton of money though.

Think of it this way: Robocop may actually work out better now with the special effects than it did in the 80s

Well, at least Michael Bay isn't involved, like he is with the TMNT remake.

I'll give this one a chance.
I liked Robocop okay, but I feel like it will benefit a lot from modern special effects and whatnot.

I thought the stop motion was the coolest thing about that movie.

This was an awesome scene!

That's an awesome alternate ending, I've never seen it before. I like how the video is so cleanly spliced and you wouldn't even notice it missing from the original. It really makes the bad guy more deserving of being blasted through a window.

I doubt a remake could match this scene-

Robocop the movie is a great classic. I remember well that they did the Robocop series on SciFi a couple years back.

I don't buy the "it can be better because they can do better special effects now" argument.

See Star Wars Episodes 1,2,3 and the remastered 4,5,6

The only real special effect they'd change now is ED-209 being CG most likely instead of stop motion. Everything else is guns and explosions. I'd much rather see practical effects in most cases instead of going the "Easy" route with CG

There is a difference between remastering and remaking something, keep that in mind.

Furthermore, the quality of practical effects has improved over time.

I like traditional effects over cg, it's just such a unique art form. Rather than cg where a good chunk of it is copy/paste.

I'd like it if they used traditional special effects in this one, but I doubt that will happen.

I doubt it too; seems like Hollywood has gone CGI crazy since sometime in the late 80's - early 90's,

- and I don't like it as much as the actual, physical special effects we saw in the old days.

One of my favorite movies from my youth. Kinda mixed about it being remade. I thought it was great, but it doesn't quite hold anymore, looks a little jenky by todays standards. I just hope they do it right. I think samuel l jackson and gary oldman have signed on.

The other remake I am wondering about it total recall. I thought that was prefect the way it was.

Everytime I see that scene of "ill buy that for a dollar" i always think of smash tv.

I don't really see the point for a remake; it would be better if they did a sequel, where they could expand upon the existing storyline (for instance, it would interesting to have a movie where several Robocops fight several Robocriminals). However, with that said, I agree that to judge it before it is released would be unfair, so I'll withhold my judgement until then.

I don't see why everyone likes to bash CGI. I agree that Hollywood has 'gone crazy' with it, and that poorly created CGI effects can often look worse than poorly created non-CGI ones, but well-made CGI effects far outdo the older ones in several instances (such as laser blasts). I don't buy that the new effects will make a new film far better that an old one, but it really won't make it far worse either.

I thought it looked like a sweet Batsuit prototype of some sort.

I thought the original movie was a decent adaptation of the original comic strip.

Judge Dredd was one of those "it's so bad it's good" movies. I enjoyed it for what it was. Heck, I'd sit down to watch it again more than I would sit to watch Transformers.

I just read that the original Robocop movie was inspired by the Judge Dredd comic, I'm so smart!

How come no one told me this movie has an all star cast? Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L Jackson and Jackie Earle Haley(Rorschach). That cast alone makes this movie worth watching.

Slime Slayer

Not a fan of those guys personally.
Oldman: Don't know who he is
Keaton: The best Batman, but i can't see him in other roles
Jackson: Over-rated
Haley: Don't know who he is

You don't know who Gary Oldman is? Jeez dude do you even watch movies at all? One of his best was Bram Stokers Dracula, he was Dracula.

I seen both those movies actually, I remember nothing of both. I don't know man, I guess I just go into my own world because I saw so many movies that I know nothing about.
