Good points all around, but DB I assure you that just because certain companies and agencies are sitting on patents for clean, renewable and/or FREE infinite energy doesn't mean we won't get it, someday.
Greedy little piggies kept us dependent on them {meaning having to buy their garbage, like fossil fuels and nuclear energy as two examples} and they clearly want to keep that control.

Despite the damage already done I believe there is still hope for sustainability, just not this anti - human 'carbon tax' method, based largely on John Holdren's Ecoscience.

Yes, having clean air, water and food supply is essential but it shouldn't cost so many people their lives, as suggested in Holdren's book.
Even on smaller levels such as the ban on Edison - style filament light bulbs and replacing them with these toxic, Chinese - made compact flourecent bulbs that give inferior light everywhere - it seems like the insanity is consistent.

I would call it bright while using considerably less energy.
Suitable for applications where large areas need to be lit, while using less power than old fashioned bulbs.
{speaking of the long tube style CFLs, which have been with us for decades}

But ask any Artist or person who needs a more full - spectrum light and they'll tell you: there are some missing frequencies there.
Perhaps not as noticeable if you're sitting in a classroom listening to lectures or if you're at work but I noticed the big difference in my house when I started using them; the 'white' ones are too far into the blue, the 'soft' ones are almost too red, but then I put one of each in the same {double} light fixture and it seems to balance it out.

Better still are the LED lights, despite the fact they tend to be even more frequency specific even than CFLs.
I notice they sometimes balance it out with a couple of different LEDs in the same housing.

US Congress during the discussion of moving to the CFLs stated that when broken they create a Mercury hazard that requires the evacuation of the room, followed by special cleanup procedures ... and it made me wonder why no one ever said this before; as I said earlier the long tube style CFLs were common in schools and other large buildings {like shopping malls} for decades ...

So what changed in the meantime?
Is it just that you're likely to have longer exposure time from a broken CFL at home than at school or work?
I remember times that CFL tubes would fall out of their fixtures due to loose end connections and smash on the floor, and no one was 'evacuated' save to clean up the glass and powder with a broom and dustpan.

Less energy, yes.
Last longer seems to be a random thing; I have CFLs that have lasted since the ban, and others that burnt out a few months after purchase.

This statement is terrifying unto itself; Robert Malthus is the one who wrote a 'fictional work' centering around how 'elites' use an engineered food crisis to eliminate most of the population.

Where is this leading, exactly? - because it's feeling a lot like a ban on certain words, words that very often can have more than one meaning, and, as in the example I talked about above, context changes everything.
Furthermore if this goes through what's going to stop this list from growing?
