Well, I tried my best to fix things in my life so that I could have some extra time to hang around RU and what not, but it didn't work out. I have really big problems now so I just wanted to say goodbye to everyone, apologize for not saying goodbye the other times I just disappeared and thank those who have been so nice to me here in RU.
This is a great community and I will miss being here. So long and thanks for all the fish.

You don't have to say goodbye. Just come back when you do have more time. We're not going anywhere, I hope.

Goodbye. I hope that, someday, you can come back here.
I've no plans to leave.
I hope you can sort things out in your life.
You will be missed. Hope you return one day.

You're welcome for all the fish, and remember we at RU were mostly harmless. We'll see you at the restaurant at the end of the universe. ;)

Georgina Walther (Nikegirl2012) was my cousin.. She committed suicide yesterday... I just thought that I would let you all know.. We had no idea of the problems that she was going though and we all wish that she had tried to reach out to us.. We loved her very much... We are all absolutely devastated and heartbroken... Please pray for Geo and for her mother... Geo was her only daughter... I hope that my cousin is finally at peace.. love you and miss you, Geo :love-over::worship:
D: well... i was hoping my crappy day would have ended better.... now it ends sadly :(

This really bothers me. Like everyone else I didn't know her very well but she did reach out to me in a private message when she made this topic. I feel like I could've done more to help her or at least got her to talk to someone else who could've helped. I was worried about the tone of this topic but I hoped for the best and I didn't wanna upset her if she was just depressed. Now I feel like a moron for not seeing the damn signs and taking it more seriously. She did make it seem like this was only temporary, even in the PM she sent, but looking at it now I should've known. I know people will say this is a normal reaction and there's nothing I could've done but I know that's wrong. I could've tried harder. I'm sorry for that.
@Death Nation- Shut up. If you have a problem with your ban take it up with Tenser in private. Have a little respect and act like an adult. If you post in this topic again with anything but sympathy and respect I'll delete your post and ban you. I'm not joking don't test me. I'm mad that I even have to taint my post explaining this to you. I deleted your other post and the parts where people replied to it. Stay on topic.

Now that I'm a little more composed, I knew her a little bit, we've talked
before. She was really quiet, I was a little surprised by the topic and I
thought it may be suicide but I thought I was overreacting.
I just wish I could have done something, I'm so sorry.
I hope her family the best.

I can't imagine what nikegirl's family must be going through right now. My deepest condolences go out to them.
@Dudebro: An old classmate of mine committed suicide 7 years ago. I barely knew the guy, I didn't enjoy talking to him. The day before he killed himself, we got into a somewhat nasty argument. I am almost certain that it wasn't the straw that broke the camel's back. However, I cannot be totally sure. No matter how irrational it seems, I've felt a great deal of guilt about it. It is natural to feel this way. Don't beat yourself up too much about this. You did what you thought was right.
To everyone: Suicide is no laughing matter. If you think for a second that someone you know might kill themselves, ask them directly if they're thinking about committing suicide. Suicidal thoughts are often temporary and a cry for help. Reach out to those that are acting other than normal.
If you harbor suicidal thoughts, or have in the past, remember that things will get better. There are people that care about you and would be devastated if they lost you. Talk to somebody, anybody.

Like I said I know this is a normal response but this isn't the first time I've been in a situation like this. Both times I could've done more. The fact that I dropped the ball again makes it worse. But either way this isn't about me I just needed to vent my frustration about it.
You're right about your warning. It's too late once the deed is done. It's better to risk it than to hold back and regret not asking to help someone.

@dudebro, Dont be sorry.. There really is nothing that could have been done, unfortunately.. She was surrounded by loving friends and family members with all the time in the world for her.. She knew that. She could have talked to us about what she was feeling, if she truly wanted help... Or atleast given us a sign that something wasn't right... Something to let us know that she needed help.. We would have definitely given her the help that she needed, if we had known.. Would you mind telling me what she said to you in the last PM that she sent you? And when was this message sent? I see that she wrote this on May 30th, but the last time she signed on here was the day that she killed herself, on June 1st.. I suppose that I should explain why I'm asking for this information first.. My cousin did not leave her family a suicide note... We do not know what she was going through.. She left no clues behind for her mom... I would love to give my aunt some closure, at least... To know WHY she did this.... When I found out that she hadn't left behind a note, I decided to snoop around on the Internet to see if I could find something, anything... (I knew that she used the Internet a lot, when she wasn't busy studying) and luckily, I came across this forum.. Now I know that she was going through "big problems" in her life.. But I do not know what these problems were.. And would like to find out more about what she was going through, if possible.. If she has disclosed any of this information with any of you, please let me know.. My aunt deserves to know what lead her to do this, to get some closure, and to start the healing process.. This was my aunt's only child that she raised as a single mother... Incredibly sad...
This is really sad. When I read her good bye post the thought of her being suicidal did not cross my mind. I just thought she needed a break from the Internet and I expected her to return in a few months.
This is the message she sent me.
Hi Kong,
I was looking around in the settings options and I couldn't find one to close my account. I really like it here, but I'm having personal issues and I'd rather say a final goodbye and close my account. Is it possible?
Sorry there isn't a close option. You can just log out then if you ever change your mind you can always come back. Or if you prefer to not be able to come back I can change your email and pass so that you can't log in again.
Thanks, I guess I just stop using it.
You will be missed. Hope you return one day. Good luck with your personal issues.

I spent a lot of time when I was a teenager thinking about suicide. I hope everyone here realizes if they ever need someone to talk to there are several people here that they could send a private message to and ask for help.
Tiffy, the few people that received private goodbye messages from her will probably send them to you but I think they were similar to mine above and will not give you much info. Sorry. You can view all of her posts here http://www.retrouprising.com/search.php?searchid=606003
Death Nation has been permanently banned. In his short time here he hasn't had any positive posts. His joke posted in this thread was horribly inapropriate but could be forgiven since he couldn't have known what was going to happen. But after his temporary ban for the joke he returned to find that it came true and he did not apologize or express any remorse, sympathy or condolences and instead tried to make this topic about himself. Totally not acceptable and he does not belong here.

Sorry for your loss, RIP Nikegirl2012. :(
I spent a lot of time when I was a teenager thinking about suicide. I hope everyone here realizes if they ever need someone to talk to there are several people here that they could send a private message to and ask for help.
I think this is very important. A lot of people have suicidal thoughts at some point in their life, and they need to let people know.
This whole situation is terrible and I feel sorry for Nikegirl's friends and family. Her goodbye message made me worry that she might be a suicide risk, and though I didn't know her at all I thought maybe I should send her a message, but it's too late now. I'll regret that forever.
I'm not an expert or anything, but here's a bit of my story which might help provide a bit of insight. Some years ago I started to develop some health problems - including heart palpitations (which turned out to be atrial fibrillation), and intense feelings of stress. I thought I had insurmountable problems in my life (which in hindsight I just didn't) and I felt like I was dying. I remember every day I was thinking about suicide. I was angry and frustrated all the time, and smashed a bunch of stuff around the house. This was totally unlike me, as I was previously a laid back non-violent pacifist type. One night I had these intense gut pains and said to my wife I needed to go to hospital, but (for other reasons) she just went to bed. So I didn't go to hospital and laid down, wondering if I would wake up. LUCKILY that's about the closest I got to hurting myself or anyone else. I told my wife I wanted to die but she didn't know how to handle that. (The gut pains I think were a gallbladder attack, I get my gallbladder taken out later this month.)
At some stage I went to a "suicide prevention course" at work. In an anon survey MOST people said they had had suicidal thoughts at some point in their life, but I was the only person who had in the last week. If anyone is thinking about suicide, you are not at all alone.
About 2 years ago I was feeling short of breath with my heart racing, so I went to emergency, got oxygen, x-rayed etc. Couple weeks later a cardiologist figured it out - I have Graves Disease. Meaning my thyroid pumps out extra hormones, causing the AF, sweating, weight loss, feelings of doom etc. When I took my first beta-blocker tablet I soon had this incredible feeling of peace which had been absent for several years. It was amazing to experience my personality changed in an hour by one tablet.
It took me at least another year to realise how sick I had been, and how badly I had been out-of-my-mind. In hindsight it's been shocking to see how these thyroid hormones changed my thinking SO radically. My thyroid seems to have stabilised now, but for the last 6 months I have been taking tablet for depression/anxiety (don't know if it's just me or if it's a hangover form Graves Disease which apparently often happens). These days I'm feeling good.
Sorry about the wall of text, but looking back I think that if I had killed myself my friends and family would have been left totally wondering, when the only problem was really an undiagnosed medical problem. I'm quite introverted and didn't reach out to others when I should have. I didn't know Nikegirl but she may have been in a sense happy with life, with big problems that weren't really there, with depression that sadly wasn't addressed in time?
If you've read this, thanks for taking the time to do so. If you're thinking about hurting yourself please let someone know.
Sorry to hear about Nikegirl, my condolences to her family and friends.
