View Full Version : Megaman.

Megaman's one of my favorite series - but it's far down on my favorite series list.
But the story in the games is second only to the Metal Gear series.
Think about it. All of that pain and destruction, first starting out in the Classic series, and then ending with the Legends games, was caused by a simple act of jealousy. Albert Wily was PO'ed that Thomas Light got the award for his work in Robotics, while Wily was portrayed as second fiddle.
So he steals Light's robots, has them go on a murderous rampage, then starts to build his own, eventually leading to the creation of the first Maverick, Zero, which sparks an entire war.
Though this was all caused by Wily, it is, indirectly, Light's fault. He built the first worker robots, which Wily then used, and so on, so forth.
"Though I did not pull the trigger, I built the gun which he holds in his hands." -- The Protomen, Father of Death.
It's so tragic, and it just goes to show that envy is perhaps one of the most powerful and dangerous of the Seven Sins, or just emotions in general.
What do you all think?
EDIT: I would have posted more, but it'd really just be me gushing over the series.

I was thinking about Megsy the other day, and something occured to me. I was thinking "Why is he called Rockman in Japan?, he's not made of rock!" Then it dawned on me, "rock" isn't a reference to stones, it's a reference to music! They tried to promote the game based on it's awesome tunes.

Yep ~
Let's not forget his 'sister', Roll.
Then there's Bass, Treble (Bass's dog), Rush, many others.

And his helmet is obviously a set of glorified headphones:

Now all I can think of is him having the different robots stage music turned up to 10 as he blasts away the baddies.

Y'know, I never noticed the headphone-helmet. Interesting.
I guess he truly is a ROCK-MAN.
ahah ahah ah...

That's all good. Had to do with Megaman regardless, so, it's fine.
What do you think of the series?

I like Megaman.
X is the best series.
Followed by classic and Legends.
Then Zero and Battle Network.
All of them are still above-average at the worst.

For me, it's:
Classic,
X,
Legends
Zero,
Battle Network.

They are all pretty good games i.m.o., but for me something happened between the 3rd and 4th games. So 1-3 are awesome, the rest are good but not as good. I did'nt really like the ZX series, or the Battlenets.

ZX just wasn't that fun for me.

If I remember right, they were named Rock and Roll due to Inafune's love for that specific genre of music. Been years since I read it though.

I haven't played anything outside of the 8-bit classics.
3, 9, and 10 were all phenomenal for me. 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 were also good fun, but if I want to play Mega Man I don't usually start them up over the other three.

Most people don't know, but Legends is actually part of the main series timeline. It takes place about 2000 or 3000 years after ZX & ZX Advent.

I also like the StarForce series which is a much better Battle Network but for the DS.

I read some weird rumour about if the soundtrack sells enough then the will release Legends 3.

@Tails: I think you would. You can get the first of the series for dirt cheap used so it couldn't hurt to try it out.

I completely forgot about Star Force.
I liked it slightly more than the Battle Network games.

Star Force was amazing, but I liked BN 1+2 better than those games. Though, Star Force was better than the rest of the BN's.

Battle Network 4 was my favorite of the Battle Networks.
