First of all that sounds awesome I love the show super jail, we could use a few of those.
Second it doesn't take a genius to know that if you lock someone up for a long time when they get out they don't have money, job skills, no one wants to hire them, and there quite possibly homeless. so you just made a career criminal.

But seriously this does sound like how most developed countries work, more jails and less money for other stuff. Where I live they passed a bill to decriminalize small amounts of weed. A year later the cops and other law makers decided they didn't like that now they have a new bill where you can be charged with dealing if they suspect you were dealing. Yup suspect, like circumstantial evidence. They even said you don't have to have multiple bags, scales, ect. The bottomline is they're going around the previous bill because they think fines aren't good enough, they wanna toss people in jail. At the same time there's been articles in the paper about how overcrowded our jails are. There's big money in jails apparently.
