So, there is an upcoming remake of Syndicate coming out later this month. I played the 4 player co-op demo this weekend and was pretty impressed with the gameplay mechanics and for the difficulty. The enemy AI was pretty good, much better than the COD "take cover constantly and then make expert shot on you the second you are exposed" AI.

The upgrades, based on points and "microchips" ripped from enemy bosses and mini-bosses are pretty sweet too.

If interested, I suggest giving it a look.

I can't get passed how they changed this unique RPG into a FPS. At least with Shadowrun it has a public multiplayer that is tons of fun. This looks decent at some parts, like you mentioned, but otherwise it's shallow imo. Also the lack of actual multiplayer will probably kill it. It's gonna be hard to find lots of people to play coop with.

For Private games I think so, but not for public matches.

The one problem I do see is going to be the co-op replay value. I played through the demo mission, took about an hour, had 6-8 restarts, but afterwards, I had a pretty good idea what to expect as far as enemy tactics, numbers, objectives, etc.

I get what you saying about the original. That game was so brutally sweet that it almost seems like a hate crime to make it a fps, but it definately doesn't play like a COD fps game. Teamwork is absolutely paramount, basically because that is the quickest way to heal and for beating bosses.

Well for me the older ones are pretty nostalgic. We were blown away by what you could do, like robbing a bank and then blowing it up. This new one kinda seems like Dues Ex more than Syndicate. I'm sure it's fun and all but it's just not the same.

I'm not sure what any of that meant. The gameplay is neat though.

I think the way I am going to treat it is that I'm not playing Syndicate, but a game based off of Syndicate. Either way, it will probably be a rental for me.
