Alright I understand that CD based game systems are not old enough and probably would be too much to put on this website....Anyone correct me there if im wrong...But i noticed that Gameboy color was here now its been a long time and i had a different username...But i was wondering if it would be at all possible to INclude NES64 games....That would make my year...Its Catridge and I think its just as retro as GBC. Anyway it would be awesome to play Tony Hawk and Smash Bros and Goldeneye....So my question is...will N64 make it to Reto Uprising???????

CrispyChicken

I think Kong said that N64 won't be added because the controls would be too complex and the games would be glitched up on RU.

I'd wait until he responds though to get a sure answer.

Thank you for your input...I think a MIDI contoller might help with the controls tho...But anyone playing with a Keyboard would be at a Disadvantage possibly i could see that. Man i Miss playin Goldeneye...LOL. and im unstoppable at Super Smash Bros. I know that that Saturn wont be added which is my favorite system of all time... But 64 is a close close second. Hopefully they will be able to add it sometime

I don't have an answer for you but I have a question, what was your old username? Welcome to RU.

N64 Full Mode will 95% for sure be added this year.
Score Mode is still very questionable.

Oh sweet! Glad to hear N64 games will most likely be added. Full Mode is better than nothing!

@SB- Knowing Kong, nearly all of them :p

Simon#Belmont
01-19-2012, 11:16 PM
@ChrisP Nearly all of them will be great. Cant wait to play Goldeneye...Im gonna have to get a midi controller now. And Full Mode is def way better than nothing...
As soon as I have extra cash Im sending in a Donation

Welcome, or welcome back, I should say. I can tell you have at least a semblance of taste, naming yourself after one of the best vampire hunters in all of fiction.
It's cool to hear we'll get N64, that should increase traffic.

Simon#Belmont
01-19-2012, 11:26 PM
Yeah I think that will bring in a whole other Generation of people looking for the 64 retro games that they grew up with.
And I appreciate the compliment on the name...Simons quest was one of the first games I can remember playing. It brought countless hours of enjoyment. Just Like RU does today.
And Ty Dudebro and Demon-Mask for the WB. I appreciate it...I tell every Gamer I know about this site.

Demon-Mask
01-19-2012, 11:28 PM
You enjoyed Simon's Quest, too? It takes a lot of crap it doesn't deserve. The Devil May Cry avatar is a nice touch as well.
I tell people about RU as well, no one ever remembers to check it out, though.

Simon#Belmont
01-19-2012, 11:44 PM
Yeah man I have that same problem...I tell people and they forget...I got my brother playing but he hasnt made an acct yet.
And Yeah Simons Quest does get a bum rap...but i think its bc people dont like the direction they went with it...adding in the RPG type game play with free roam...It really doesnt follow the Gameplay style as the others...but I think thats part of what made it special.

Demon-Mask
01-19-2012, 11:51 PM
adding in the RPG type game play with free roam...It really doesnt follow the Gameplay style as the others

I don't think the free-roaming RPG part was the problem, as shown by the success of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and the post SotN games which borrowed it's gameplay model. The problem was the obtuse hints and its backtracking. I found it all to be charming, but I'm in the minority.

Simon#Belmont
01-19-2012, 11:55 PM
Oh the hints like...rumor has it that the ferry man @ Dead River loves garlic...Yeah...I have not played Symphony of night...Or Castlevania game after the genesis. I am going to have to check that out...Appreciate the insight there.

Demon-Mask

The most obtuse hint was the one about the cyclone and the wall and all of that nonesuch. Symphony of the Night is good, I'd recommend it.

If you wanted to use either of those accounts we could probably just change the email associated with it for you. Your new name is more retro though.

About the N64 thing I wouldn't get my hopes up about all of them being added. Every system has games that just don't work and I think with N64 it will be worse. Let's just hope the really good ones work.

The games I wanna see are-
1080
Battletanx and it's sequel(looks bad now but we had so much fun with it)
Destruction Derby
Doom
Fighting Force
Gauntlet Legends
Hybrid Heaven(Such an underrated game)
Ocarina of Time
Mario Kart
The NFL Blitz games
Ogre Battle 64
Perfect Dark(much better than GoldenEye)
The Rampage games
The South Park FPS(not nearly as bad as people claim)
Star Wars Episode 1 racer(hated the movie but the game is fun)
The Turok games
The WCW/WWF wrestling games(lots of nostalgia and they're still better than the newer ones)

The ones in bold I really wanna play again. Also Hybrid Heaven is a game everyone should try, nothing else like it has ever been made from what I've seen.

About Simons Quest, I have fond memories of all the older Castlevania games. To me they are iconic and awesome.

DrunkN

The problem was the obtuse hints and its backtracking.
Mindless AI and grinding, obscure sense of objective, monster-per-platform enemy placement, repetitively similar enemy types, dull color scheme (this one is pretty minor, but everything just felt so dark green and grey as opposed to bright orange and blue), and awkward inventory implementation didn't help much either...

Though I do think it had potential, I just don't think that the right experience for an action RPG was there.

Starfox64
Duke Nuke em zero Hour
The Turoks
Any Star Wars or Bond Game

Any of the Army Men Games
Rainbow 6
Transformers beast Wars

Doesn't it take quite a bit of processing power to run most N64 games? My friend had an emulator that ran Majora's Mask and it ran rather slow.

Dudebro
01-20-2012, 12:47 AM
I wanna stress how good Hybrid Heaven is. It's so unique and fun just talking about it doesn't do it justice, here's a clip-

@ DudeBro...That does look pretty fun....Hopefully we will get it.
@ Morshu...I dont know the answer to your question...but im willing to bet that if Kong says he's adding em...that he'll ,make it work.

Dudebro
01-20-2012, 01:03 AM
I can't answer that either but it will probably just mean games will take a long while to load up and slower computers will have trouble or won't play them at all.

Seahawk
01-20-2012, 01:09 AM
Casual N64 emulators are pretty hackish, so they'll probably run fine for the most part. But for the same reason, some more advanced games on the console won't work.

Score mode using MESS however, I can guarantee you nobody here will be able to run.

Dudebro
01-20-2012, 01:10 AM
If nobody here can run it who can?

Seahawk

If nobody here can run it who can?

The developers of MAME and MESS have always put accurate emulation as a higher priority than speed. As a side effect their N64 emulator is pretty much the best around if you can run it.

There used to be an N64-based arcade game on the site called Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth. I forget when it was removed, but it was a really long time ago (say 2008 or 2009). On my computer, which was new at the time, I remember getting really slow speeds on it, between 30%-70%.

And there are already several games here on RU that are unplayable by most users, try playing Cyber Sled (http://retrouprising.com/game-menu/game/7867/).

Super Smash Bros Easily.

Although NFL Blitz would be nice.

Dudebro
01-20-2012, 02:36 PM
@SH- I used to love that game in the arcade. It loaded up quick and the FPS stayed around 85-95% for me. I couldn't figure out the controls though but it was smoothly crashing into the walls.

Seahawk
01-20-2012, 03:18 PM
A bowling alley I used to go to had it, I remember the huge rush I got from beating training mode for the first time on one credit.

Dudebro
01-20-2012, 03:21 PM
How was your FPS for it? How do you set up the controls to actually work?

Kong
01-20-2012, 03:29 PM
I get about 70% on it.

Seahawk
01-20-2012, 03:36 PM
The original game uses two analog joysticks to move your tank, with two trigger buttons on each, so you'll need an input device the provides the equivalent of all of those.

A standard Xbox 360 wired controller would be pretty good.

Dudebro
01-20-2012, 03:38 PM
I'll have to try my controller. I remember liking that game but not wanting to pay a dollar a game, total rip off.

N64 games range from 4-64 MB, with only two games at 64MB (Resident Evil 2 and Conker's Bad Fur Day) and only a few at 32MB. Most hang around 16MB or less.

In comparison, Metal Slug on the Neo Geo is 29.5MB.

Morshu

It would make my day if you guys got Conker's Bad Fur Day. That is my all time favorite game. Resident Evil 2, the Castlevania games, Perfect Dark and Mischief Makers would be great to see on here too.

Dudebro

Seahawk already posted one of the largest(might even be the largest)
Retro Uprising - Arcade - Cyber Sled (http://retrouprising.com/game-menu/game/7867/)

Kong
01-21-2012, 02:00 AM
Hmm. I thought we had some larger ones than these but I was wrong. These are currently the largest games by filesize.
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
Mortal Kombat 3
Ganryu
Gaia Crusaders
World Heroes Perfect
Shadow Over Mystara
Super Gem Fighters
King of Fighters '95
Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon
Mortal Kombat 2
World Heroes Perfect 2 Jet
All coin-op.

Hoping to get up to get up to games as big as King of Fighters '99 this year. Which is 5 times as big as UMK3. But that might be a bit of a stretch. We will see.

Probably will get up to at least as big as Metal Slug.

Resident Evil 2 and Conker's Bad Fur Day for N64 might be pushing it too much. Again, we will see.

---------- Post added at 03:00 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:58 AM ----------

@DB, depends on how you measure it. If going by file size, Cyber Sled isn't that big.

It just requires a fast PC, not bandwidth.

I misunderstood what SH was saying then, I thought he meant because of the size it would be unplayable for most people.

@SH: what would one need in order to run that game smoothly?

I am guessing
8GB RAM or more
An i7 processor
A top of the line video card
And a controller with dual analog sticks.
That should be a new desktop around $1200. Not counting monitor, keyboard, mouse etc.
Do you think The Castlevania Games..Perfect Dark..And the Bond games for 64 are feasible?
I'm not going to answer individual game questions like these. Two many unknowns still. But the majority will be added.
