Kim Jong Il, the dictator of North Korea, has died at 69. Unfortunately, his likely successor, Kim Jong Un, is said to be more confrontational. Looks like things might get dicey in Korea.

Well we know why Kim Jong IL named him successor over his 2 older brothers

1)Older brother #1 tried to go to Tokyo Disney under a false passport, so daddy basically took him out of the running

2)Older brother #2 was deemed too "feminine" by his father and thus not manly enough to be dictator.

3)Brother #3 is reported to be EXACTLY like his father, which is why he was named successor.

I have less of a problem with how Kim Jong tried to stand up to the United States and the rest of the civilized world and more of a problem of how he treated his own people. The guy was plain crazy. I'm curious to see how his son behaves in comparison to his father. PRobably won't be much different, but here's to hoping...

Osama Bin Laden: We sold him weapons and aid during the 1980s to help him fight the Soviet Union in Afghanistan.
Saddam: We put him into power, sold him weapons and turned a blind eye to his massacre of the Kurds and other various groups during the 1980s, he only became our enemy after he invaded Kuwait. That was only problematic to us because we didn't want him to be in position to invade Saudi Arabia. He was a good friend of ours.

I don't think Kim Jong Il's son is going to suddenly give people rights, he'll likely follow in his father's footsteps.

I think the main worry is he'll start some kind of aggression with S.Korea as a way to distract the people and to rally them behind their new "great leader". If he doesn't do that then he faces the reality of his country starving and being dirt poor because of the previous little dictator. He's too much of a coward to be honest so be ready for some saber rattling at the very least.
