In all seriousness, it's been a long time since we held a WOLF game here at RU, and there's a lot of active forum members here who have never participated in one. They can be a lot of fun as long as everybody who signs up participates.

Well it appears the rules I was looking for are now gone. Here's the gist of it:

Number of Players: 8-16, plus the host

The host is responsible for writing the story, keeping track of votes and notifying players of their roles. The host assigns roles to players prior to the start of the game. The host may assign personalities and/or motivations to each player, or he/she could opt to let the players decide that for themselves(this is the preferred method).

Roles:

Human: The objective of the humans is to eliminate all the wolves before they are all killed. The only method they have to dispose of suspected wolves is a vote held a few days after each wolf kill.

Wolf: Every few days, at the beginning of the game and after every vote, the wolves select one player to kill. Their choice is sent via PM to the host.

Hunter: The hunter is the same as a normal human, but can choose one player to identify each cycle. This is conveyed through PM to the host, who will reveal the role of the chosen player.

Notes:

Obviously, WOLF has quite a bit of role-play involved, so you'll be expected to stay in character. Out-of-character comments should be prefaced by OOC.

In a standard game of WOLF, roles are revealed after the character's death. In hidden corpse, roles are kept secret, making the hunter immensely important.

Players can talk to each other both within the thread and through PMs.

That's all I can think of at the moment, I'm sure I missed something.

I'm thinking that the starting date should be January 5th, any opposed? (opinion on a date is critical, please put your two cents in)

@ChrisP: There is also the role of oracle, which is basically the hunter without the ability to kill people. Though very rarely used, players traditionally have the ability to PM the host that they are "gaurding" someone, which will allow them to die in the place of another should the guarded character be elected as the next wolf target.

Two to three and a half months would be the theoretically expected length, but there are quite a few variables.

I guess I never noticed this thread the first go around. You Know I'm in. Last Wolf I actually played was hosted by Drunk, and it worked out fine. Not opposed. Oh, and Sabbs hosted one that got halted as well, but it went well too.

Edit: Also, I think a problem with these is that everyone gets in the mindset that the game will crash, and so it usually does. Just a thought

look what happened with the Tag team thing. The original Due date got us like 4 people. The date was extended like a week and suddenly we got like 20 people. unfortunately I had to drop out due to personal family issues, but that's all over with now.

Anyways, I'd say give it more time, like the tenth?

Just make your character similar to you, then you can act as yourself.

We will be starting on the 5th, as planned. I'm thinking that rounds will be five days long with two days for voting, two days for wolf kills, and one day for the oracle's/s'/hunter's/s' investigation. If we get 14 people then rounds will be six days, adding an extra to the investigation day.
