Here's a MC video I thought you would be interested in, because these guys are playing a seed that spawns you near an NPC town that has a STRONGHOLD UNDER IT.

X - 266, Z 702

and dig, dig, dig!
{*note: I have not actually dug yet. However I have found the village at those coordinates and am preparing to dig immediately after posting this message.}

Well, uh, the uh, 'stronghold' turned out to be a rather lack - lustre affair after all.
After extensive investigation, my initial anticipation has been crushed by a severe lack of anything significant within the structure itself.

If we dare call it that .. there's a mine AND a chasm running right through the middle of the stronghold, and it's so fragmented and piece meal that .. I'm sorry to any of you guys who listened to me and wasted your time.
It's that bad.

The most I found down there were two chests in a skeleton dungeon {regular dungeon close to the stronghold} and some very treacherous walkways.
Iron doors set directly beside lava falls, doors that lead to nowhere, and most often there is no floor where you expect there to be.
And LOTS of lava, everywhere.

So in conclusion I recommend ignoring this world seed altogether and either finding a stronghold yourselves or perhaps someone else has a better world seed that includes a known stronghold?
