This is an easy and fun game from the 60's.

The game will end at a random time between October 24th and October 28th.

This is a full card deck plus 4 Jokers - 56 cards.

C = Clubs = Black
D = Diamonds = Red
H = Hearts = Red
S = Spades = Black
J = Jack

I will try to keep the hands in this first post up to date but there will be delays in the update so read through the thread for the newest info.

You have each been given cards, rules, and links. You may trade any of them. You also may lie, cheat and haggle.

There are secret rules that explain how much each card is worth.

I have PM'd each player 5 secret rules.

You may trade rules or cards or information.

Some of the rules are in links. If someone gives you a link you can be 100% sure that the rule is real and accurate.

Some of the rules do NOT have links. You can still trade and use these rules but you can not be 100% sure they are correct unless you received them from me.

You can make deals in secret or public. In PMs (http://retrouprising.com/private.php?do=newpm), Chat (http://retrouprising.com/chat/), or this thread.

When you give a card to another player you must announce it in this thread. Example:
If I trade Tenser my Ace of Diamonds for his rule #3, I would post here "I give my AD to Tenser, I now have 5H, JS, 3C, 4H, 5C and Tenser has AD, 5D, 3H, 2C, JC, QH, KH." Tenser would PM me the link to rule #3. Tenser could be a jerk and refuse to give me his secret rule, but once I post "I give my AD to Tenser" he has it. I can not take it back unless he volunteers to give it to me later.

You can not discard cards unless a secret rule tells you to do so.

You can not force a user to take a card against their will unless a secret rule gives you permission to do so.

All of the secret rules affect your final score whether you know the rule or not.

There is no limit to how many cards you can have in your hand and no limit to how many rules you can learn.

Some rules are triggered by events during the game. In order to use those rules you must be aware of them and use them when the event occurs.

All rules and cards were randomly distributed.

A good strategy is to make frequent trades early on to get early access to lots of secret rules even if you don't know if the trade will be in your best interest or not.

The following are 7 public rules:
Rule 4 Clubs are worth three times as many points as Diamonds.

Rule 12 If at any point someone has exactly 3 Hearts you can take 1 of their Hearts. You can pick which Heart you take. If you do this, post in the thread that "Rule 12 allows me to steal (name of Heart you are stealing) from (name of person)."

Rule 13 The person with the most cards at the end of the game can force anyone to trade hands with them. You will have 24 hours after the game ends to post in the thread that "Rule 13 allows me to force (name of person you are forcing to trade) to trade hands with me."

Rule 14 At the end of the game I will ask everyone to guess how many points they have. The person that is the closest will receive 200 bonus points.

Rule 15 If someone steals a card from you and you have a Queen then for each card they stole from you, you can steal 2 from them. If you have a Queen in your hand when someone steals from you then post in the thread "Rule 15 allows me to steal (name the two cards you are stealing, number and suit) from (name of the person that just stole from you)."

Rule 27 You lose 10 points every time a card stolen from you.

Rule 30 If someone gives you an Ace in a trade then you can steal one card of your choice from them. Announce in the thread "Rule 30 allows me to steal (name of card) from (name of the person that gave you an Ace)."

You are encouraged to lie, cheat, swindle and haggle. Being a jerk is part of the game, don't hold grudges.

There is no minimum time requirement. You technically don't have to do anything through the whole game. Although the more trades you make the better your chances of winning.

Maybe someone that played last time can say how much time they spent.

I could use some help calculating the points for these rules. I will go through the thread and try to calculate the points for them but someone should double check in case I miss something.

Rule 32 Every time you have a card stolen from you lose 5 points.

Rule 33 Every time you steal a card you receive 10 bonus points.

Rule 37 If you have 4 Queens in your hand at the same time, but manage to get rid of all of them before the game is over then you get a bonus 100 points.

Rule 46 Every time you post a lie in the game's thread and don't get caught, you gain 5 points. But if you post a lie about a secret rule then you lose 300 points. Lies about secret rules start with "Rule XX allows me to..."

Rule 47 Every time someone accepts a joker they lose 15 points. This counts if they accept it in a trade and if they steal it.

The complete rules

Rule 1 If you do not have a spade subtract 100 points from your total.
Rule 2 Having exactly 3 Hearts makes black cards worth triple.
Rule 3 Red cards are worth nothing if you have exactly 3 Hearts.
Rule 4 Diamonds are worth less points than all other suits.
Rule 5 Hearts are worth twice as many points as Clubs.
Rule 6 Clubs are worth three times as many points as Diamonds.
Rule 7 Diamonds are worth half as many points as Spades.
Rule 8 Spades are worth 10 points.
Rule 9 If you have the high score in Retro Uprising - Arcade - Bank Panic (http://retrouprising.com/game-menu/game/313/) at the end of the game then you get a 100 point bonus.
Rule 10 Rule 11 is a lie. It is completely false and will be ignored.
Rule 11 Rule 12 is a lie. It is completely false and will be ignored.
Rule 12 If you have the high score in Retro Uprising - Arcade - Chicken Farm (http://retrouprising.com/game-menu/game/7847/) at the end of the game then you get a 200 point bonus.
Rule 13 If you have the 4 of Spades then your Diamonds are worth 4 times as many points.
Rule 14 You can discard a 4 of Spades. If you do then everyone loses 10 points each. The 4 of Spades is no longer in your hand. If you discard your 4 of Spades then you must post in the thread that "Rule 14 allows me to discard this 4 of Spades and it causes everyone else to lose 10 points each."
Rule 15 If at any point someone discards a 4 of Spades you may pick it up and give it to anyone you want, including yourself. If you do then you must post in the thread that "Rule 15 allows you to pick up the discarded 4 of Spades and give it to anyone you want. Whoever receives the 4 of Spades can not trade or discard it."
Rule 16 If at any point someone has exactly 3 Hearts you can take 1 of their Hearts. You can pick which Heart you take. If you do this, post in the thread that "Rule 16 allows me to steal (name of Heart you are stealing) from (name of person)."
Rule 17 The person with the most cards at the end of the game can force anyone to trade hands with them. You will have 24 hours after the game ends to post in the thread that "Rule 17 allows me to force (name of person you are forcing to trade) to trade hands with me."

To change it you post in the thread "Rule 22 allows me to change this Ace of (whatever suit it is) into a (whatever card you want it to be, include number and suit). This card can not change value again, even if I trade it."
Rule 23 The person with the lowest score at the end of the game receives a bonus 200 points.
Rule 24 If you have a Jack you can discard the Jack and steal any card from one other player. The other player receives an Ace of Diamonds. Post in the thread "Rule 24 allows me to discard the Jack of (name of suit it is) and steal (name of card you are stealing, number and suit) from (name of person you are stealing from) and (name of person you are stealing from) gets an Ace of Diamonds". It does not matter if the Ace of Diaonds is already in the game. There can be duplicates.
Rule 25 If you finish with one Ace and no other cards you get a 300 point bonus.
Rule 26 If you finish with zero cards you get a 200 point bonus.
Rule 27 If you have exactly three 3's then your total points are trippled.
Rule 28 If you have a 7 you can discard the 7 and give any one of your other cards to any other player. That player must accept the card and does not give you anything in return. If you do this then post in the thread "Rule 28 allows me to discard my 7 of (name of suit) and give my (name of card, number and suit) to (name of person you are giving the card to). They must accept it."
Rule 29 A flush is a set of five cards of the same suit. Example five Spades. If anyone has a flush can steal on card that is part of their flush. If you do so post in the thread "Rule 29 allows me to steal (name of card, number and suit) from (name of person you are stealing from."
Rule 30 A straight gives 50 bonus points. A straight is a set of five cards in numerical order. Example 4S,5D,6H,7C,8C.
Rule 31 A straight flsuh gives 300 bonus points. A straight flush is a set of five cards in numerical order all of the same suit. Example 4S,5S,6S,7S,8S.
Rule 32 Everytime you have a card stolen from you lose 5 points.
Rule 33 Everytime you steal a card you receive 10 bonus points.
Rule 34 The player with the most black cards gets a bonus of the number of those cards squared. If 2 or more players tie for the most black cards then the bonus goes instead to the player with the next highest number of black cards.
Rule 35 If someone gives you an Ace in a trade then you can steal one card of your choice from them. Announce in the thread "Rule 35 allows me to steal (name of card) from (name of the person that gave you an Ace)."
Rule 36 If you get four of a kind then you can discard the four of a kind and then trade hands with anyone else. Announce in the thread "Rule 36 allows me to discard (list the 4 of a kind you are discarding) and then trade hands with (name of person you are trading with), I now have (list of their cards) and they have (list of your old cards minus the four of a kind you discarded)."
Rule 37 If you have 4 Queens in your hand at the same time, but manage to get rid of all of them before the game is over then you get a bonus 100 points.
Rule 38 The 9 of Clubs is worth negative 100 points.
Rule 39 If you have an 8 at the end of the game then everyone else loses 50 points.
Rule 40 Rule 39 only counts if it is a spade.
Rule 41 The player with the most spades gets a 10 point bonus. If there is a tie then everyone else loses 10 points each.
Rule 42 A 10 is worth twice as much as a 5.
Rule 43 A 5 is worth 50 extra points.
Rule 44 All # 4 cards are worth 40 points each.
Rule 45 If someone has exactly 3 Jacks you can give one of them to another player. You can not give the Jack to yourself. If you do this then announce in the thread "Rule 45 allows me to give (user's name you are taking from)'s Jack of (suit of Jack you are taking) to (name of player you are giving the Jack to)."
Rule 46 Every time you post a lie in the game's thread and don't get caught, you gain 5 points. But if you post a lie about a secret rule then you lose 300 points. Lies about secret rules start with "Rule XX allows me to..."
Rule 47 If you are feeling picked on then rule 19 plus a Queen may help you.
Rule 46 This rule does nothing. Try to trade it to someone else.
Rule 47 Every time someone accepts a joker they lose 15 points. This counts if they accept it in a trade and if they steal it.

Chirs or anyone else. Did you know about rule 2 and 31? They are what won the game. Also rule 13 combined with rule 31 would have been powerful too.

If Chris hadn't had exactly 3 hearts then his score would have been 345.
If he hadn't had the straight flush his score would have been 15.
If he hadn't had both the straight flush and exactly 3 hearts then his score would have been 35.

The best, simple hand would have been 4S and a 10 high diamond straight flush = 1950 points.
There would have been some complicated hands that would have been worth more. Like add 3 threes to that hand and you would have over 6K.

The only useful rule I got was that spades were worth 20 points, so that being all I had to go by, I just collected as many as possible. Then I noticed I was only a card or 2 away from the royal flush, so that was my new goal, not knowing if it was even worth anything.

I went into this thinking I'd lose so I'm not too surprised with my turnout. I did get last but then that rule bumped me up, as if to pity me. I was just hoping that my "diamonds are worth 4X with a 4 spades" thing would work out better than expected.

I got a pretty good guess on my points.
I didn't have anything useful for the points except that fours are worth forty points each.
So, I collected all of the fours before I tried to do anything else.
