So Crysis 2, the sequel to the semi-sandbox fps that may or may not have been created for super-advanced alien computers is here. The first game was notorious for it's intense graphical effects and idiotic enemy AI. The new game is.... well, not that different. One misconception is that the game has worse graphical quality than the previous game, when in actuality it's better optimized to play on a wider range of systems. If your computer is strong enough, it will make the game look beautiful. the DX11 patch really pushes this beyond it's limits.
On the gameplay side of things, the first game was....meh. the second game is divisive. There are those who like it a lot more then the original and those who despise the sequel. I personally like it more in that it's more balanced this time around. Not to say that it's been perfected; cloak is still insanely overpowered. I sneak past about 3/4 of the battles, and the battles I don't sneak past can be easily won by using stealth kills or silenced weaponry. One incredibly amazing thing is that the main character is not the commonly seen "Superbadass" character standing atop a mountain of corpses. The main character is more so a collection of injuries held together by duct tape. this really shows in sequences where your character's heart stops and you have to use a defibrillator on yourself.

The game is only as fun as you make it. if you play it like a generic fps it will BE a generic FPS. if you play it like a stealth-action game, it will be a stealth action game. Or if you do what my close friend did and play the game like a walking tank by turning on the bullet absorbing armour mode. I only played 2 days of multiplayer so I can't really talk much about that, but from what i've seen, it's difficult and you will need a modicum of stragety.

The enemies have changed from a race of predator-like aquatic aliens inside flying tanks to squid-like aquatic aliens in bipedal armour suits. Likely so they wouldn't have to code up some new AI for them. just copy over the Human AI with some parkour skills added.

The difficulty doesn't really go up that much, it's more like they throw more and more enemies at you. by the end of the game it's a bit like Serious Sam in terms of enemy attacks.

Finally, the 3D in the game is... Phenomenal. It isn't that it's the cheesy pop out 3D, it also is the depth, objects behind objects, view increasing 3D.

All in all, the only thing the sequel is missing is the ability to throw sea turtles at enemies.:p

Nice review! +1. I'll probably be getting this game (hopefully for my birthday).

Make sure to buy it cheap, it's worth playing but not paying full price.
