What it says above, just post enemies and bosses that just pissed you off. Remember those times when you just stopped playing a game for long time because there was this jerk that kept on killing you or any other thing that kept on pissing you off? Well, now you can post about that stuff here! Ok, I'll start. Lakitu from smb. Those things just keep throwing endless amounts of spineys at you and killing you.

There was a Sigma at the end of Megaman X 1,2, or 4. I cant remember which. He was really hard, I gave up never to return.
Could you discribe what Sigma did?

The four fiends in the DS remake of FFIV. Stopped playing for months because of that.

His first form was relativly easy, just a battle with him and his scyth, then you drop down and hes got these huge fists on rockets.

We should probably limit this to just enemies since we already have a topic about bosses.
This topic would be lame if we didn't mention Medusa heads from Castlevania. I know some of you dudes claim they aren't that hard to deal with but for those of us who aren't obsessed with the series they sure are. I think they pretty much turned me off to the series, just so annoying.

The flying skeletons in Castlevania III. Move much more erratically than medusa heads.

I know and I did kinda get used to it but they would always be at a spot that would screw me if I slipped up. A case of Nintendo difficulty. I appreciate challenging games but sometimes it stops being fun for me.

Hammer Bros. no matter what, I'd get hit by the Hammer or them..

The Hammer Bro on the stairs on level 5-2. It's the only one in the game positioned like that, and its near impossibly to get by without getting hit .

Zubat on Pokemon. It's easy to kill, but it is aggravating. Every four steps in a cave, a Zubat appears.

Several enemies from Taloons come to mind. Those doll monsters that drop your level randomly when they attack you. The other monster that lowers your hit points. The mushroom dudes that lower your strength and those damn magicians that use sleep. The last one is manageable but sometimes they get to attack you when you can't defend yourself and then they become very lethal.
Also a dungeon crawler, Dragon Crystal. The enemies that steal your very important food supply. Those bastards can quickly ruin an awesome run by forcing you to either starve or go up a floor too early.

Any and all Pokemon that use Supersonic, Confuse Ray, or Thunder Wave. Combine confusion and paralysis, and you will almost never hit.

I don't know if this entry fits the criteria of this thread but I remember having a difficult time making my way up the side of the sandcrawler in Super Star Wars (http://retrouprising.com/game-menu/game/4075/) ยป Super Nintendo (http://retrouprising.com/game-menu/super-nintendo/).
Technically speaking I suppose a sandcrawler isn't even an enemy, but after what I went through to climb that sucker, it's an enemy of mine now!

I think it counts as an enemy. It's one single being you're up against, right? But I guess that would kinda make it a boss.
Btw the King Frogogres from DW3 are one of the most annoying enemies I've ever fought. They like to show up in packs and they spam group sleep, with a high success rate. They aren't tough at all really but your whole party being asleep is usually a death sentence. I just had my party wiped out 3-4 times because of them. :(
RU Joe
06-19-2011, 02:14 AM
^ Yeah no kidding, I hate it when the whole party gets wiped out.
The Dragon Warrior series had several enemies that would 'send for reinforcements', meaning they would multiply until they depleted all your medicinal herbs and magic for healing spells, and eventually you get to the point where you have to make the last - ditch attempt to run for your life.
Dudebro
06-19-2011, 02:32 AM
Yeah I've encountered a few that call for help but so far nothing to worry about. Until they call something fierce it's just more exp.
RU Joe
06-19-2011, 02:39 AM
Agreed, it's great for racking up EXP points, but those instances I have in mind occur when you're exploring an area where you're cut off from towns and also the shops, such as in a cave or a tower, and you've already used up a lot of your materials making it to this certain point where suddenly a group of multiplying enemies appears ..
It's almost like they're testing your skills as a Gamer, to see if you had the wherewithall to buy enough medicinal herbs instead of loading up on other obscure items that improve character attributes and use up valuable carrying capacity.

The fleamen in any Castlevania game. Unpredictable hopping, combine with other enemies means death.
Yeah DB, those Taloons guys that steal your experience points and strength points are about as annoying as it gets.

The fact that it is permanent is the worst part.
Dudebro
06-19-2011, 02:30 PM
Well the strength isn't really permanent if you can find an antidote or strength seeds. I'm pretty sure the ones that steal your level give you back a level when you kill them, but you lose any exp you gained towards your next level. Still annoying though.
The mushrooms take away a strength point which you can get back with an antidote, no big deal. But later on there is a guy that takes away a max strength point which really sucks.
I think the dolls take you down to 1 experience point below the previous level. So they really suck when you are about to level up, not so much when you just finished leveling up.
And the guys that make you confused and walk in random directions suck because they do it when you are surrounded by other strong enemies and you can't really avoid them.

Oh that's right I forgot about those mechanical doll things that drop your HP permanently. Those are the ones I really fear. I either run or use whatever powerful items I have to kill them.

Jinpachi Mishima, any boss from The King of Fighters, Geese Howard.
The most aggravating enemies are the bosses from fighting games, especially Jinpachi Mishima from Tekken 5, that dude still aggravates me almost to the point of tears.

Did you see the trailer for Tekken Tag? Looks like he's playable or at least a boss of some kind.
Also Heihachi either got some Just for Men or he's many years younger somehow.

I have seen the Tag trailers, it looks good. I don't know what to think of young Heihachi, I think they just did that because his voice actor died or something, and if he's younger, a new voice makes more sense.

I'd like to play as Jinpachi, but they probably wouldn't give the player the super-powered purple-nightmare boss-type Jinpachi.

Yeah but if he's this much younger and his sons aren't then the story is probably gonna be even more convoluted than previous installments.

Psycho Mantis was always an boss, until you called the Colonel.
But I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet:

From what I saw, Kazuya looks a bit older than he did in Tekken 6, which means he looks about the same age as Heihachi.
Hell, Heihachi didn't look that young even in the first Tekken.
On topic: The End was a frustrating boss in MGS3, especially when he absorbs nature's life force or something, and regenerates all of his stamina. It isn't a hard fight if you use lethal means, as you can use a sniper rifle and all kinds of things, but relying just on CQC, stun grenades and the MK.22 was annoying. Then he regenerated his stamina.

@Katz- I never played that game but I've seen that character all over the place. In fact I think I saw him in person, can you double check for me?

That him?
@DM- Maybe Heihachi finally got access the devil gene? I always thought it was weird that he seemed to be the only male in the family who didn't have that power(even Jinpachi seemed more supernatural than him). Could explain his regression. Or they just don't wanna kill off Heihachi so they mangled the story to shoe horn him in.

Most aggravating bosses for me were Death in Curse of Darkness and Etna and Laharl in Disgaea 2.
Etna and Laharl are aggravating because you aren't allowed to beat them without getting a bad ending.

Jinpachi: Able to turn into super-powerful purple demon with mouth on stomach, and super laser powers. Able to destroy Earth.
Kazuya: Turns into Devil
Jin: Turns into Devil Jin
Heihachi: Mild electric powers, more for show than anything.
Heihachi is pretty much a strong old man, and the others are super-powerful demons. For some reason, it doesn't make sense that the Devil Gene skips a generation.

Heihachi is definitely more than just a powerful old man. He survived a point blank explosion that destroyed the building he was in and set his body miles away. He brushed that off like it was nothing. I don't think they intended for him to have the devil gene but he's got some kind of mystical powers for sure. He's not Wang.

The Creature for Castlevania Portrait of Ruin. Hard enough as a boss fight, since he can shoot electrical blasts at you, and has machine guns and rockets under his elbows, but in the Nest of Evil, you fight two at once.
From the same game, Cave Trolls. Only found in the Nest of Evil, they are the most dangerous non-boss enemy in the game. They move fast, and one hit from their tongue can do more than 200 damage. They also have a close range electric attack that does 200 damage per hit, and you get hit by this attack three times in a second. You find like seven of these in one room, right after the two The Creatures. Not fun.
Again from the same game, Gold Skeletons. They can take several hits to kill, their bones do around 100 damage, and if your on Sisters Mode, all your attacks only do 1 damage, and they have over 100 health.
