I didn't see the movie and I have no interest in doing so but how do you get a 100% grade when your other ratings aren't all 10s?

I didn't like the first TRON, so why is this one any different?

I take the total and times it by 20 (5 qualities 10 rank levels) and it was over 100.

This takes place AFTER the original Tron.

the story line sounds exactly like the first one...

No, not really.

It sure as hell sounds like it.

The main concept, but not the story

I can't say I have any interest in this movie whatsoever.
The first movie was great, in part because the whole "man get's sucked into a computer" thing hadn't been played out to death yet.

That, and Tron was one of those movies that didn't really need a sequel.

I highly disagree

What exactly do you disagree with? The first movie being great or that the sequel wasn't necessary?

There should've been a sequel

But there is.

And, if there weren't a sequel, would you feel the same way? Would you feel the same way if this movie went by another name and wasn't connected to Tron? Basically, did Tron really need a sequel, and could this movie stand on its own merits?
Nothing personal, I'm just wondering.

Eventually, Yes, Yes

Going over the plot of the movie and then rating all of your factors doesn't say a lot about your opinions on the movie.

Movie reviews, like games, need to be detailed... this was hardly detailed.

joz
05-03-2011, 08:47 AM
While having more details makes a review better, they don't NEED to be detailed if the author doesn't feel like it.

Dudebro

Yeah but they do need substance. If a review is the equivalent of a normal post it's not gonna be ok.

Sure

Were you agreeing or being sarcastic? Either way I'm one of the last people to care about reviews but I know we don't want ones with next to no effort.

joz

I agree with the lack of effort being a negative when writing up a review.

I see what you did there. Though italics do the job much better than all caps, at least I think so.

That's a matter of opinion.

When I read all caps, I imagine yelling, when I read italics, I imagine a slight emphasis.
Well, I knew what you meant, so it's all good.

When I read all caps, I imagine yelling,

That's weird.

Dudebro
05-04-2011, 03:13 PM
Why is that weird? I thought everyone read all caps as yelling?

joz
05-04-2011, 03:28 PM
You thought wrong then.

Dudebro
05-04-2011, 03:53 PM
Perhaps you're wrong then? I've seen all caps banned on other sites because they view it as yelling. You should get with the program.

joz
05-04-2011, 03:57 PM
You were wrong to think everyone thought all caps meant yelling. Obviously I thought differently.

Dudebro
05-04-2011, 04:00 PM
I admit I was wrong to think that but can you admit that you were wrong in thinking it's not yelling by typing in all caps?

joz
05-04-2011, 04:03 PM
Yes, of course. I didn't know that all caps meant yelling.

Dudebro
05-04-2011, 04:04 PM
Well I'm glad we cleared this up!

It makes the review longer.

joz
05-06-2011, 06:02 PM
Actually that makes this a summary instead of a review.

DrunkN

This is a good thing. You want the review to be longer so people can understand why you thought something.

In most situations I look at it this way; the first goal of a post is to show your thoughts, the second goal of a post is to explain why you think so, and the third goal of a post is to make it worth reading.
