That same stupid virus is in my computer again. Need help ASAP

I know how this sounds. I am almost 100% certain this is the same virus that killed my computer initially back in the summer and caused me to have to pull a full system recovery...

How did this happen? Last time, I downloaded a torrent of half life opposing force and it had malicious viruses in it. Obviously I didn't download this again myself but I am not the only one to use this computer and I'm also not the only one who wanted half life opposing force. Sure enough my security popped up saying it found a virus and that it cannot remove it. Why? From what I see everything in this opposing force disc file is read only and I cannot access them so I'm told by Shaw Secure (F-Secure in the states).

I can only assume this is the same virus, he told me it popped up while he was installing a half life opposing force torrent that came with the half life 3-pack with the 3 games. Exactly what I got in the summer. Frankly I was pretty much done with torrents after that.

Enough with that, here is what I'm seeing now on my desktop:

What happened last time is once my computer was shut off I could not turn it back on because the virus would keep tripping the power on one of the late boot up screens. I also think the virus multiplies itself. Scans back then said I had 600 malicious files and now I'm up to like 12 as shown in the screenshot (probably more now...)

I've scanned the files a million times now and they can't remove it. I'm finally doing a scan of my entire computer on malwarebytes, however no luck so far. Someone tell me what I can do here soon. Obviously shutting off the computer is a bad idea.

The virus is a backdoor. Meaning it allows hackers to have full access of your computer. Once they do that they can steal, install or break anything on your computer or use you to attack someone else or do something illegal from your IP address.

Disconnect it from the Internet now and don't reconnect it to the Internet until the virus is removed. Using the computer without Internet is probably OK. But don't transfer files from it to another computer.

Try booting into safe mode and using your antivirus to remove it.

To get to safe mode repeatedly press F8 while the computer is booting. You will get a boot menu. Select safe mode.

If that doesn't work I'll post steps to remove it tomorrow.

I shut off the computer, I was a bit scared to do so, but I did anyways. Before you posted, however, I was googling things on how to get rid of trojan viruses and it mentioned removing the program that housed the virus which seems pretty obvious but I'm not so certain it's the same virus anymore. I was able to remove it this time through that method (half-life opposing force), although I'm not sure that it removed the virus. My Antivirus is not picking up on it anymore which it may have hid itself again. I'm not sure. The site also mentioned that the trojan viruses can mutate themselves to do many different tasks and can sometimes be used by others to hack and attack my computer as well as others, as you said.

I did check after noticing that my antivirus wasn't picking up on the virus to see if my computer would reboot normally quick and it did. I'm wondering if it's the same virus, if I got rid of it or if it didn't have enough time to attack my computer that way this time. I'm sure you wouldn't know exactly but it's just some thoughts I'm having.

I'm really wondering if I got rid of it. Any way to know if I did or not really? The last trojan sure put up a fight, so I can't help but think it's just hiding somewhere now :-/

I'm really wondering if I got rid of it. Any way to know if I did or not really?Run a virus scan from a different OS. By using this drive as an external drive on a different computer, or installing a new OS on this computer or booting from a Live CD.

The last trojan sure put up a fight, Some are easy.

Be very careful of downloading anything .exe Cam. Whenever I do I only download from a site that has comments enabled, I read through all the comments thourougly whenever something is a virus, it will be reported in the comments.

Usually when my computer gets trojans, it can remove them instantly. The fact that my antivirus said it couldn't this time and it came from opposing force is what scares me.

@Tails, you don't think I want to? There is no jobs hiring right now :-/ Luckily my folks got me a bit of a job to do that gets me about $120 a month for the summer opposed to the 35 I used to get.

@DB, I talked to him, don't worry. He downloads torrents all the time without problems on his own cheap laptop so he thought there was no issue I guess. He uses my computer for FPS games & Minecraft because I have a mouse and his can hardly play games.

The computer seems alright I guess, I had it running offline but I uninstalled everything in that Half Life triple pack. I can't pick anything up on any sort of scan still.

I'm 16 in June. Most people can't get a job until their 17 at least right now.

I think I'll do fine with this job. I have to mow both lawns, trim the hedges surrounding our yard and clean up after the dog in the yard 4-5 times a month for 20 bucks every time on top of 35 bucks still. Shouldn't be long hopefully. I don't want a cheap computer though.

oh, thats just recovery from the economy still. 17 is a stretch even. It took my othet brother who's 22, six months to get a job at a mcdonalds even... It's getting better though. Shouldn't be hard by the time I'm 17 :-/

Can you roll it back to a restore point before you downloaded the program and tried to install it?

Might be able to get rid of the problem that way. Not sure it'll get rid of anything but it might be able to be uninstalled then

@aloha, well, considering that the city takes all our recyle off the street here I don't think that's possible. It probably is if we go directly to the center for recycle, but if my folks are paying money to get it picked up off the street every week or it's getting picked up for free, then why would they want to drive me to the recycle center? It's an hour walk at least so that isn't really possible. However, I could do this when I'm at the lake this summer for my grandparents. I'm at the lake most of the summer too so yeah.

My computer seems alright now. It said that it detected a false positive trojan in one of the scans I did recently and it's been running fine. Wonder if it was just a false alarm on my antiviruses part? What do you guys think?

@bearhawk, I contemplated that but there was some other stuff I didn't want to lose and I couldn't restore unless it was to a point that my computer was at 4 months ago. it wouldn't help much anyways.
