Plot

Cyrus (Roger Hill), leader of the Gramercy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gramercy,_Manhattan) Riffs, the most powerful gang in New York City, calls a midnight summit of all New York area gangs, requesting them to send nine unarmed representatives to Van Cortlandt Park. The Warriors (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Warriors_%28gang%29), from Coney Island, Brooklyn, are one such gang. Cyrus proposes the assembled crowd a permanent citywide truce that would allow the gangs to control the city. Most of the gangs laud his idea, but Luther (David Patrick Kelly), leader of the Rogues uses a smuggled gun to shoot Cyrus. Panic ensues and the NYPD rushes in. Fox (Thomas G. Waites (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_G._Waites)) one of the Warriors, sees Luther commit the shooting, but in the chaos, Luther screams that the Warriors are responsible. While the Riffs beat their leader Cleon (Dorsey Wright) to death, the other eight Warriors escape the melee and debate their next move, knowing they are deep in enemy territory.
Meanwhile, Masai, second-in-command of the Riffs, takes charge, and declares a bounty on the Warriors. This sets the city's gang population out hunting for them, with a radio DJ (Lynne Thigpen) reporting live on the events.

Review
This movie kicks ass! Set in various locations of New York, The Warriors will keep you entertained all the way till the credits start rolling. If you haven't seen this movie yet, do so. It's full of great fight scenes that are realistic without any of the modern Hollywood effects and like any good action flick, there's even a car on fire! :victory: But it's not all blood and violence. There's also a sort of love story that develops midway the movie.

The movie was a bit too much for it's time, as it might have caused a bit of influence on the masses inciting violent acts, but not ultra violence, and vandalism. Paramount actually offered to pay for extra security at the theaters and allowed for theaters to get out of their contracts and stop playing the movie if they felt the need to do so.

Twenty four years later, the movie was brought to your house as a game for the PS2 and XBOX. You can read the game review here http://retrouprising.com/video-games/reviews/warriors/t11516/

There is also talk about a remake last year, but I've not read of any confirmation.

Your review was great,
though I didn't care for warriors.

I sat watching it twice and fell asleep both times - and I'm insomniac :/
The 3rd time I made myself watch it and I must say Its one of the most boring films I have ever watched.

...So much running
Thats all they are doing in the film, running around using a certain 3 letter word beginning with F thinking they bad.

I've always wanted to see this movie, but I've never had the chance. Good review, regardless.

Thank DM and DN. Is there anything you guys think I could or should add to make my reviews better in any way? I respond well to constructive criticism.

There isn't much I can really recommend, aside from talking about the music in the film. I've seen many a good movie ruined by bad music, and many a decent movie made great by the music.
Aside from that, I cannot think of anything. Though, I'd like it if you kept up the good work in reviewing movies.

Well thanks. It's kind of difficult to talk about a movie without talking too much about the plot and spoil the movie for anyone who hasn't seen it. But yeah, I guess I should talk about the soundtrack and how it well it sounds in the movie. I'm planning on doing at least one or two reviews per month. I have tons of movies I'd love to recommend for you all to watch.

I'll gladly read your reviews. I have a few I'd recommend as well, would you mind if I wrote a few movie reviews?

Do that. If you got Netflix check it out there. You will not be disappointed.

Meh I never understood the appeal of this movie. Maybe if I saw it years ago it would be a classic but as it stands now it's corny and hard to watch. Friend of mine loves it though and we played the game because of it, it was also meh, imo.

Hey it can't all be glowing reviews right? If everyone loved the same stuff the world would be boring.

So you don't like my review? I thought you didn't like the movie.

I meant my own review of it isn't glowing. The point being if everyone was all saying how great this was then this would be terribly boring.

Sez didn't like the movie much either. She even uses it to fall asleep sometimes.

I wouldn't be able to fall asleep to it. I'd be too busy being critical and mocking it. ;)
