Story:
YouTube - Marvel vs Capcom 3 E3 2010 Full Length Trailer [HD]
Marvel villain Dr. Doom and Capcom villain Albert Wesker are attempting to join
their worlds as an attempt to take over both, but there is a problem, the scientists
at A.I.M. are unable to generate enough power to create rifts between each world.
Super Skrull then suggests to use Comic energy from Galactus as an attempt to
join the two worlds together. While it is successful, it causes a free for all among
the members of both universes until the planet consumer himself joins the scene.
This is on MvC3's only major flaw. Capcom constantly hiped up how great the
story was going to be and even hired a comic book writer to write a plot for the
game. But unlike SSFIV, this game only has character endings will little plot value.
Gameplay:
YouTube - Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Gameplay - Don't Mess with Chris E3 2010
When it comes to gameplay, almost no fighter comes close to the amount of depth
and balance that MvC3 has, which more than makes up for a lack of storyline.
While it gained a new 3D look, it still is a 2D fighter like it's predecessor with
brand new features that still keep it fresh. Also the amount of playable characters
have decreased from over 50 to 36, but the insane character diversity such as
legendary Devil May Cry main character Dante finally has a fighting game
apperance.
Players select a team of three characters and each characters assist to their liking,
with almost no character standing out thanks to huge balance.
From MvC2 to MvC3, the control scheme has changed from Light Punch, Heavy
Punch, Light Kick, Heavy Kick to Light, Medium, Heavy, and Exchange. But the
combinations for specials such as the quarter circle or the z motion have been kept.
One of the most important part of gameplay is the hyper meter, every character
has at least 2 hypers (Spencer and Taskmaster) while at most have 4 (Wolverine
and Morrigan). The moves dish out heavy damage and are often used to finish off a
combo. Players can also swich out characters mid hyper combos to extend their
combos for massive damage. C. Viper can use her hyper combo gauge to use EX
versions of her specials which enhance their properties at the cost of one level.
But the major game deciding feature is the brand new X-Factor. This feature
instantaneously cancels your last move so you can continue your combo. The
feature also increases your speed, strength, and regenerates health. But there's a
catch, it can only be used once per match and when it's used will be key to either
your victory or your defeat.
Graphics:
In a massive improvement over it's predecessor, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is one of
the best looking fighting games out there. Each individual character model is full
detailed and the elaborate backgrounds are all outstanding. Looking like a
combination of SSFIV's ink style and Marvel Comic's art style.
Sound:
Unlike MvC2 which was full of Jazz, MvC3 has a nice mix of themes that are nice
to listen to and are great for gameplay to boot:

Challenge:
With literally 40% of development time put into balancing, MvC3 is one of the
most balanced games in recent memory. Only a few characters (Dante) seem to
have an edge on everyone else.
Overall:
Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was well worth the decade of waiting, and I'd highly
recommend it to anyone who enjoys video games.
