Wii Transfer

The disc reader on my wii broke. Everything else works, but the games disc reader, which is basically the whole wii. Now I don't mind because I got the limited edittion one and becuase I can transfer data. But what bothers me is you can't for Brawl. For some reason Nintendo won't let you transfer the data from that wii to another. I really don't mind getting the characters, but doing the classic again will be a pain. Me and my brothers shared a file and we all worked on it together, and now we need to get it back. We were really close to 100%-ing the game. If anyone knows a way to please post here.

If your warranty is expired you can probably still send it to Nintendo for a repair. Not sure the cost but it would probably take 2-3 weeks at least to get it back. Other than that I have no idea what you can do. Really stupid move on their part making Brawl not being able to transfer like that.

Try deleting all of your custom data.......this means all created stages and all movies or snapshots you've taken. Maybe even all profiles as well. No guarantees that this will work.

Alternatively, you can send it to Nintendo for a fix. It cost me $80 when I had to fix mine two years ago for the same problem.

The data was probably locked to prevent people from moving it to their computers and then editing it freely to unlock everything or to boost up the stats (KO count, damage, time, etc.) to insane levels, say one million KOs for each character or a million hours played.

Well I already bought the wii and started games on it. Thanks but I am looking for a way to get thew data without erasing everything. Also the reason I got the new wii was because it broke a few days before Christmas and I couldn't wait to get it fixed. So I bought the new wii a few days after Christmas. Thanks for the ideas though.:D

The Wii isn't looking very good right now, similar to how the Xbox 360 was said to 'microwave itself' by someone a while back in another thread.
The more I hear about these new consoles the more doubts I have about them.

Compare this to my original Gamecube and PS2 that still work great to this day.

Off topic: my Gamecube stopped reading the discs 2 years in.

On Topic: No idea how to transfer data, but if its under warranty, Nintendo repairs it for free, and you get it back in a week or so.

If it's somehow unfixable, Nintendo will replace the Wii free of charge, but only if the warranty is good.

Yeah thats the problem. My brother told me that the warinty is gone because we go it at game crazy which went out of business.
