I've really been addicted to the Ace Attorney games recently (I've beaten the first Pheonix Wright one and the Miles Edgeworth) and was wondering if there are any games before that on any of the systems here that play like those. Technically, any that the Ace Attorney series play like, as these would've been made before those. So... any games that seem like the Ace Attorney would be spiritual sequels to?

You should probably explain what the gameplay is like since I doubt most of us have played those games.

You play as a defense attorney and you have to solve cases (most of the cases are murder cases). and prove your client isnt guilty.
I like the ace attorney series. I cant think of another game that's like them though.

I mean the actual gameplay not the story.

Go around to different scenes a la Carmen Sandiego, collect clues that support your case then present them in court.

Now that I think of it the Carmin Sandiego games are kinda similar.

So the games are linear with only so many ways through or are they more like Carmen San Diego with random stuff randomized to the point of being kinda stupid?

There was some Sherlock Holmes games for Sega CD that sound like that.

I remember playing a game here where you had to collect clues to solve crimes. The first one involved a dead girl found on a beach. I don't remember the name though. It was point and click.

We probably have a couple text games like this but I doubt they would compare because of the boring interface and lack of graphics.

Deja-vu 1 and 2, Shadowgate and The Uninvited, all for nes and should all be here. Tombs and Treasure is another one worth looking in to.

While I am unsure of any on-site, you have a DS, or I am guessing so as those are both DS games. I can recommend a few similar DS games. Hotel Dusk: Room 215 and 999: 9 Persons, 9 Hours, 9 Doors come to mind.
