Tag Team Contest (Open to All)

[Wolf]

This contest is similar to the recent Team (http://retrouprising.com/contests/closed-contests/team-contest-vi-tag-team/t10434/) contest with a few twists. The biggest that it is open to anyone, not just teams.

To play you must find a partner and sign up as a two player team. Try to come up with a name for your team to make it more fun and easy for me to make the brackets instand type every players' name.

The deadline to sign up is 11/12/2010.

I will randomly create the brackets using dice rolls in chat at 11/12/2010.

The contest will start at 11/15/2010.

Each round will be 48 hours long.

Each round will begin with me choosing two random games in Chat.

One player from each team will play the first game, the other player plays the second game.

After 48 hours their scores are combined.

The highest combined score will proceed to the next bracket.

It is double elimination so the lowest score goes to the loser's bracket where they will have one more chance.

I will choose the games at the same time, anywhere from 1 am to 3 am, every two days. If 51% of the teams in chat at that time want to choose a new game, then we will.

If a game with reverse scoring (golf style score) is picked then we will automatically choose a new game.

If a game does not work or submit scores correctly then we will choose a new game.

If there is an odd number of teams then one will be given a bye. The team will be randomly selected with a dice roll when creating the brackets.

I wondered the same thing, a new service pack for xp was released and I downloaded it with my computer telling me to causing issues until computer updates came out 3 days later and arcadeox worked again. Seemed suspicious to me.

Ikari Warriors I was a shoot em up too but against traditional army enemies.

yeah, I retry-ed it to make sure. I prefer the Ikari III format much more but ikari I works at least. Ikari II is hard control wise and 1-life no continues like 3 hits in ikari II.

Although I like the idea of alternating nights that we play. Maybe something like a point system.
For example, 3 of us play the first night, first place is 3 points, 2nd is 2, and 3rd is one. We could set it up so that everyone plays every combination of players, that would be a total of 10 rounds.

Just a suggestion, anyway WM wants to do it is fine by me.

Then I would strongly recommend we keep it a one man tournament. This could be a great way to include players who are not in a team to get a chance to earn a badge. This year we sure had a great deal of skilled players register and actually start digging into all the booty laying around.

Pick 3 team Captains, Wolf should be one of them, Cass and Joz perhaps as the other 2. Do a draft picking 1,2,3,3,2,1, until the teams are divided. Wolf can select the game, the team that posts the best score total (Top score of each team member combined on the team wins the round) First team 2 win say 5-10 rounds wins bragging rights. The rounds should last 48 hours each. I would sign up for something like this because I wouldnt hurt my team as much if I had to post a quick score in a few rounds. Just an idea though.

@bearhawk: Wait for the game to load up properly. If you see a grey box on the bottom (this appears even as the game starts it's demo) that reads "initiating" and you insert a coin, it won't register the coin.

Yes it seems to freeze half the time I play it. Usually it freezes early on but the last time it froze when I was alot deeper in the game. I think this round ends today so don't worry Wolf about changing the game now. I'd keep it out of future contests though.

Theres something wrong with Top Roller I think. Watch my submission and see how I died 3 times very quickly when there was nothing on the screen?

Edit: Maybe not, bikes appeared the next time I got that far. Weird.

Another edit: Yeah this games definitely weird. I find it pretty easy, but seem to keep dying randomly when nothing is on the screen. Can someone please check my submission and see whats going on?

You are right the game seems broken. The best I can figure out is the Helicopter drops something you have to jump over but you can't see it. Also there is the invisible bikes and whatever else we don't see.
