Is anyone familiar with the game Trine? Or has anyone played it. I think it's an indie game, and I have been playing it lately. It's a really amazing game.
It kind of reminds me of Lost Vikings, which happens to be one of my favorite SNES games. It's a 2D platformer (2D in game play, that is) where you have 3 characters (a wizard, a thief and a knight) all with different abilities and there are little puzzles and you have to give a bit of thought to get through the levels. But it's also pretty action based.
Anyway, I have been playing it a lot and thought I would see if anyone else had played it. It's a new game but feels like it was built on very old school conventions, so I recommend to anyone on here. I've been playing it on PC, which I have to imagine is the best platform for it since the mouse controls are kind of important. But I think it is also on 360 and PS3 (downloadable).

Is this the game?

If so that looks incredibly beautiful. That must be a shot from the PC version though. If it's similar to Lost Vikings then it must be good, that was also one of my favorite games from yesteryear. Sadly it seems it's not being made for Xbox arcade although Atlus was apparently working on it.
Btw I read that Trine 2 should be out sometime in 2011 but they only mention it being available for digital download. Not sure if that means only lame stuff like PSPgo or w.e but at least it's being made.

That is the game. I could have sworn it was available for Xbox. But I guess that shows what I know. I'm kind of out of touch since my 360 red ringed and I sold my PS3. Strictly PC games these days.
I'd say it's less puzzle, more action than Lost Vikings. But still gives me a similar vibe. And yes, it is freaking gorgeous. Which doesn't hurt.
I just looked up Trine 2. According to Giant Bomb it will be out on PC, PS3 and 360. Hopefully the sequel actually makes it to the 360 so that people who don't have a capable PC or PS3 can get their hands on this game.

I can get it on PC but I dunno if it'd really be worth it. How is the replay value and how hard are the puzzles?

I haven't played it all the way through yet, so I can't really comment. I don't know how long the game is. The puzzles are pretty easy so far. But it's focused on action so I bet the replay value would be pretty decent.

Well keep us updated and if it's worth it I'll get it. Btw is there any kind of multiplayer or coop?

No multiplayer. Though I read the sequel plans to have 3 player co-op.
I played a bit more, and actually had all my characters die for the first time. It's gotten harder, but primarily only the action part, and the puzzle aspect is still really light. I think it's going to be pretty much an action game with a little bit of puzzle. There is yet to be a puzzle that has required more than a few seconds of thought for me.
So if you were hoping for some brain busting puzzles, this game is probably not for you. But I'll let you know more after I beat it.

My PS3(which I bought fairly cheaply off another guy) had Trine downloaded when I got it. It's a nice little game, but pretty easy.
