In my signature, I noticed that too images were gone. So I decided to add two more bringing it back to four. But when I clicked the save signature button I got a message something like:
"You have 6 images in your signature. You are only allowed the use of 4." (It went further on to explain what qualifies as an image)

I was confused, because I only saw two.
I went to the site where I had got the images, and they were gone from the site, it turns out they had been served an infringement notice and were forced to remove the images.

This confused me, I saw four images in the signature, but I was told I had six.

So I opened up Firefox's 'Page Info' menu and went to the media tab, the images were listed, with no preview, and with the properties of 0KB and 0 x 0 pixels gif images.

What the hell?

So there is no way for me to remove them so far as I can try, so does anyone have any suggestions as to how I would remove them?

EDIT
Oh, and in case you are wondering the images are somewhere in between Clark and Jubei.
I don't know where because they take up zero space, but they exist there.

Hi DM, the signature process ALWAYS tells me I have more pictures than are actually there; for example, if I put 4 pictures there, it tells me I have 6.

I don't argue and just post what it will let me.
The only way around it I've found so far is to make a collage of all the pictures you want using a 'Paint' program of some kind.
I have one called 'Advance Paint' that I use which I find more user - friendly than the standard MS Paint.

Does that program let you use animated gifs?

Did you try clicking the editor mode button in the upper right of the post menu? Maybe there's some mistake and you have to reenter the links? I would try completely deleting the bad pics and reposting them.

I fixed it:
I opened up the signature editor in two tabs.
In one tab clicked within the editor box.
I then pressed Control A, then delete.
In the other I did this:
Copied the two visible images, one at a time to avoid getting the invisible ones in the middle.
I pasted each of them in clear tab.
Repeated for the text.
Went back to the site where I found the images I wanted.
Then I added them in the normal way.

So what you're saying is I was right? I'm not trying to gloat I'm just slightly confused.

My guess:
Sometimes if you copy and paste a link, you will accidently grab a space character, which will be included in the picture address, and also hyperlinked.

When you delete the link later on, you might miss the space character, which will stay hyperlinked. If will go to a dead page so no image will be shown, but RU will still count it as an image.

Demon-Mask's method of Ctrl + A to select ALL text, and then deleting it all, is a good solution.

I don't know, I always copy and paste gifs, like my little ghost.
If you want to try it out, it's free and WinXP Pro compatible:
Sorry but I made a small mistake, it's called AvancePaint.

I couldn't delete the bad pics because they were unable to be selected, so I had to select everything within the text box and delete all of it, the text and the good images included, because those O x O pixel ones were not something that I could click or select by normal means because it took up a space of 0 pixels.
Therefore I just deleted everything and restarted, except I didn't delete everything because I copied the parts of my signature that weren't messed up.

If it is still confusing, let me know.

But ultimately you were right that I needed to delete the bad images, I just couldn't do it in quite the way you likely meant.

Well at least I pointed you in the right direction. My knowledge is limited, glad I could help.

No space character.
I put the picture in my signature. They were there for a longish time. They were the Umbreon and the Typhlosion.

Nintendo/Gamefreak decided to be dicks and went around serving infringement notices to fansites, like Bulbapedia where I got the images.
They had to remove the images from their servers.
So they did.

I was still linked to the image. The image didn't exist, so RU interpreted the image (URL ended in .gif) and parsed it. There was nothing to parse, so it produced an image that had no filesize, and no size in pixels. Therefore it existed at the same time as not having an existence. I could not select it without using Control+A.

Had you not pointed me in the right direction I would still be staring at the signature editor saying:
"Hurr Durr how do I internetz?"

Ok, well that makes sense.

Either way the best solution is to use Control+A to select everything.
Also you should keep your images on a personal online hosting like ImageShack or Photobucket so this doesn't happen.

I should totally do that. But I doubt the head of SNK is going to go around being a dick about images.

I doubt SNK is currently making any profit from the games where your images are from, unlike Nintendo and the new Pokemon games.

Yeah, I thought SNK was just done making profit anyway. They mostly release compilations of their older games, so they may be making minor profit off of Samurai Shodown, Samurai Shodown II, and King of Fighters '96.
