So far (admittedly I've only tried 2) every time I try to play an NES game, the image only appears partially. I'm running Ubuntu, so cannot use AOX, only Java. When I load the game, Lite mode won't work at all, and Full mode gives me a small section of the screen, either because it has been moved down to the bottom right corner (only letting me see the top left corner) or i get a purple square in the top left corner from the bottom left. Any assistance to this matter would be greatly appreciated!

Is your Java up to date?

GB games were working fine, and I had to use java for them, for the same reason stated above. So I think I do have the most up to date version.

Oh, okay.

Could you take a screenshot of the problem so I could see it? Your description is leaving me kind of confused.

i rebooted, and it seems to work for now, but if it happens again i'll definitely get that screen shot for you :p

EDIT: Ok, it seems like i can only play one game at a time. If I want to play any more NES games, I have to reboot the comp. As for a screenshot, check the attachment. Hopefully this is better than my horrible command of the english language! The top left hand corner has a slight image that should be placed in the lower right corner, making the rest of the image off-screen.

So you have to reboot the whole computer just to change games.

That's messed up.

So when you say "off screen" you mean it is outside of your monitor?
I don't know why it is off center. So is the game actually loading anyway and just off center?

Hey Squall, I have a similar situation where:
If I play a game for a while and then leave, when I return to that same game it picks up right at the moment I left - even days later - and I didn't save it in order to make it so, either.

Concerning your Operating System problem, have you considered a partition on your hard drive with a compatible OS on it, solely for the purpose of playing RU games?
{for the record, I'm no expert; I've heard of other people doing this so they can play games}
Just a thought, alternatively you could get another {cheap, old} computer for this purpose.

Coin-op games on Full Mode do an automatic save state upon exiting. To start the game over use F4 to reset the game without restarting ArcadeOX and reloading the save state.

JG, the whole reason I'm using Linux is because I don't want to use Microsoft! :p so using both OS's would defeat the purpose of me having Linux ;)

And you 'similar situation' doesn't sound at all like mine... I'll be honest about that!

Did you select "ArcadeOX Score Mode"? Did you press F12 when you were on the ending screen? Did you use the 30 man cheat or any other cheat?

no codes of 30 man cheat, didnt need it, and yes arcadescoremode and yes i did press f12 and when i did pressed it, in the bottom of the screen said: (submitting scores now and you may close the box now and your score will be up in a few hours) something like that. ohh but not just this one i just finished megaman2 also and the same thing happend for nintendo i saved well pressed f12 where willy starts begging megaman after the destroction of his fake flying alien controled by his cheap megaman desrtuctable machines.......

OK... Guess I'm gonna bump this :P

I can't get NES games to play at all now. I get that stupid little corner image with every game I've tried.

I haven't tried any other consoles/handhelds yet, so I'll try them and let you know how it goes.

Try going here Nintendo and Sega Online Game Menu (http://www.nintendosega.com/) - select an NES game. Select Java 1 as the play mode. What happens?

This happens. Slightly better than before, but still unplayable.

The problem is something with your computer.

My last suggestions.

Try an SMS, GB and Text Adventure game here. See if you get the same error with all of them.

See if you can reinstall Java.

Try a different browser.

Try a different flavor of Linux.

GB and Text Adventures worked, but SMS didn't. Just got a white screen where the game should be.

They require different minimum versions of Java to run.

I think the problem is you do not have the newest version.

Try this link
Verify Java Version (http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp?detect=jre&try=1)

If that does not work on Linux try this one.
Java Tester - What Version of Java Are You Running? (http://www.javatester.org/version.html)

What version do they say you are using?

I'm using version 6 update 20. I'm about to try to get update 22 but I'm not sure which of the files I should get.

That is a new enough version. Can you try a different browser?

If you have a Linux live CD, try that.
