View Full Version : Thor movie pics
Ok so I really don't like the suits they made for the Norse Gods here. What do all of you think?

Review of the 3 Thor Pictures So Far. (http://comicbookmovie.com/thor/news/?a=20126)
Looks more like new Batman villains than Viking gods. I don't know the story or what they are supposed to look like though.

News of this has already been carried to Odin's hall in Asgaard by Hugin and Munin, and Yggdrasil trembles to its roots.
This has got to be a joke.
Those costumes look like they're from a sequel to Judge Dredd.
THIS is what Thor is supposed to look like:

I don't mind Thor's suit, the eye patch looks dumb, and Loki has no horns.

The casting seems lackluster besides Loki.
Better Thor:

Better Odin:

I'm only half serious here.

I agree that the eye patch looks stupid. The costumes are right out of the current comics, though.
I really really don't like the costumes. Did anyone read about how the origin is going to chang?
It seems that instead of them being "gods," they're going to be some advanced alien race.:bulgy-eyes:
This movie is starting to sound like it's going to blow big time.

That is a stupid eye patch, looks like someone glued a shield to his face.
Odin's new suit makes him resemble Big Boss:http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20061008165742/metalgear/images/1/1c/Kp26.jpg
Or even Old Snake, but this is also due to the strange eye patch thing they both have going on:

I think it's looking like crap but I'm not a big fan of Thor or the Norse gods anyways, at least their marvel incarnations. The exception being Loki since he's just awesome. That pic isn't promising but he will probably have a horned helm at some point and it either looked stupid for the shot or they wanna keep some things hidden.
If he doesn't look like this I'll be upset-

I like Norse mythology, the Marvel version of it is a bit iffy in the first place, and this take on the Marvel version looks like it won't even be able to do the Marvel version justice.
Ah well, I'll probably end up watching it at some point anyway.

I forgot to comment on this-
It seems that instead of them being "gods," they're going to be some advanced alien race.If this is true then I won't see it either way. I hate being petty or limiting myself but to take the well established story and totally alter it is just BS. I'm not an expert on Marvels Norse gods or Norse mythology but from my understanding the two are very similar when it comes to the important parts(Ragnarok for example). If they change major parts of the story so willy nilly then it's obvious that this is just about money. If they were doing it for the fans it would at least stick to the story.

An advanced alien race, damn that just killed it for me.
I will eventually watch it though, probably years down the line.
The Marvel take on Norse mythology is somewhat similar at important points, but Loki wouldn't be free to do anything at all. He was tied down for all of eternity to have a snake drip acid on his face, and his wife holds a cup over him to prevent the acid from hitting him, but sometimes the cup fills and she has to empty it, so he gets acid in his face. The point is, he doesn't get to roam free and be evil and stuff. At least not after he killed Baldur the Beautiful. If the Marvel version is set at or near Ragnarok, Loki would be imprisoned.
Though their take on Thor as a character is very accurate. He is the champion of the gods pretty much, and he is a badass with a giant magic thunder-hammer.

Well I just know that most of the core points are the same. Obviously Loki can't be locked up if they want to have an antagonist for Thor.
Btw they have the greek gods too but only Hercules is seen much. That mythology stays similar too. Marvel is good about blending it to fit the marvel universe. Maybe in a couple hundred years christianity, islam and the rest will get the same treatment, just as credible as the Norse gods but newer.
It appears that Loki (bottom right) is in fact going to keep his helmet for the film. It would be safe to assume that everyone else would also keep their helmets. Notice Odin in front of the thrown doning his helmet aswell.

lol since when does Odin wear an eyepatch? I remember the best he did to cover it was wear his hat like a pimp.

Odin never wore an eyepatch in the original Norse mythology. He just had one eye closed, because he just plain had no eye. He wouldn't have been all seeing had he not pulled his own eye out of the socket.
I don't recall him wearing an eyepatch in the comic books, but it's been a while.

In a nutshell, Odin traded one of his eyes for a sip of the nectar of Wisdom.
It is because of this he became the wisest God of all.

If you like Metal, you might enjoy Amon Amarth, one of my favorite bands whose lyrics are all about Norse mythology.
1000 years of oppression
He hung on the windswept World Tree
Whose roots no one knows
For nine whole days he hung there pierced
By Gugnir, his spear
Swimming in pain he peered into the depths
And cried out in agony
Reaching out he grasped the runes
Before falling back from the abyss
He gave himself unto himself
In a world of searing pain
Go that we all may live our lives
By the wisdom that he gained
You doubted him, and spread their lies
Across the world, with sword in hand
You raped our souls, and stole our right
All for the words of mild-mannered man
You listened to mild-mannered God
And put your faith in deceitful words
Your powertrip was paid by blood
In kindness' name you spilled our blood
I refuse to submit
To the God you say is kind
I know what's right, and it is time
It's time to fight, and free our minds
Let me die without fear
As I have lived without it
So shut your mouth and spare my ears
I'm fed up with all your bull****
After a thousand years of oppression
Let the Berserks rise again
Let the world hear these words once more:
"Save us, oh Lord, from the wrath of the Norsemen"
Our sprits were forged in snow and ice
To bend like steel forged over fire
We were not made to bend like reeds
Or turn the other cheek
He grasped the runes, they're ours to use

Looks like it could be good from that trailer.
I would like to see the Midgard Serpent in the move. Not going to happen though, I don't even think the Midgard Serpent was part of the comic books.
