Ok, I now feel completely justified in buying an IPhone

E3 2010: Secret of Mana iPhone Teaser Video from GamePro (http://www.gamepro.com/video/trailers/143703/e3-2010-secret-of-mana-iphone-teaser/)

Final Fantasy Tactics was announced as well.

I don't think it is unrealistic to see other retro rpg titles to make their way to the IPhone, i.e. Chrono, FF series, Earthbound.

The problem with porting games to the iphone is that the ports are often poorly made and the fact that your thumbs and whatnot are covering a good portion of the screen.
Ports on the iphone often make prominent graphical glitches, and they often have problematic controls for moving a character. Sometimes a developer will use the touchscreen to emulate an analog stick and face buttons. An emulated analog stick or face buttons happen to be hard to use due to the lack of feedback, making precise movements and timing nearly impossible.

If you want to play SNES and other retro games on a handheld you should get something like this.

There are others. I'm not sure which is the best or the biggest bang for the buck, but all are probably better for games than the iphone.

Different cards have different specifics, I got an r4 and it runs well, other wise yes it's really simple to use.
