Video round ball seems to come in a variety of court sizes and player numbers. All-Pro Basketball combines five-on-five full-court action with a half-court screen view.

All-Pro style B-ball features several different play options. Go head-to-head with a friend in a one-game contest. Or, watch two computer teams battle it out on court. If you choose league competition your task is to lead your team to the league championship. In Two Player league play you and a buddy team up to battle the computer teams. Choose your squad from eight professional rosters - ranging from the New York Slicks to the San Francisco Bayriders. Each team has their own strengths and weaknesses.

When the scene is set, the game begins with a jump ball and then it's non-stop no-holds-barred B-ball. On offense you're the team - running, jumping, jump passing, shooting, and even going for three pointers or slam dunks. On defense make a steal or grab a rebound. And remember this is real video basketball. You get called for fouls and your teammates get tired. When their health and stamina get low it's up to you to put them on the bench for a rest.

A tongue-in-cheek homage to the in-your-face style of basketball played nowadays.

Fairly decent, but the emphasis seems to be more on fouls and cheap shots than on actual gameplay. The missed calls and rather physical style of play are nice touches.

A full game consists of four quarters, with four minutes each. Each team has two players, and the objective of the game is to outscore the opponent until the final buzzer sounds.

If the game results in a tie after four quarters, a sudden death overtime period is added, in which case the next basket to go in will win the game for the team who scored it. The overtime period is one minute long. A player can call for his teammate to pass him the ball or to shoot it in this battle royale.

There are eight characters that the player can play as, each with a unique characteristic.

Arch Rivals is a two-on-two basketball game based on the 1989 coin-op of the same name. Gamers can select from a variety of fictional teams to play with or against. Once the game begins, you are given control of one of the team's players. The other player is controlled by the CPU, but can be ordered to pass the ball to the human-controlled athlete. Like a normal game of basketball, the object is to score more points than the opposing team when the game's timer runs out.

A two-on-two hoopsfest in the same mode as NBA Jam, endorsed by NBA superstar Charles Barkley.

Nice sound, significantly improved gameplay over the original, nice digitized graphics. A bit more serious than NBA Jam, and has a few tricks of its own.

Now you can play your own version of the 1992 NBA finals with Bulls vs. Blazers and
the NBA Playoffs. Not only does this game include the two teams that made it to that
year's championship series, the other fourteen teams that made the playoffs are featured as well, represented by real team and player names. Also, the East and West All-Star teams are included. Whether by yourself or with a friend (cooperatively or competitively), you can play Arcade basketball, where players never tire and fouls don't count, or you can play Simulation basketball, in which players can foul out of games and can get fatigued if they are on the floor too long. There are three levels of difficulty to choose from: Pre-Season, Reg-Season, and Showtime, the most difficult of the three.

Each team in this game has one player with a signature move, a marquee shot, or a
trademark dunk or layup, which can be performed from a specific spot on the court. For
example: Larry Bird of the Celtics can shoot a Fade Away Jump Shot, and Brad
Daugherty of the Cavaliers can slam down a Monster Dunk.

Whether you are playing a tournament or a single game, you'll find that Bulls vs.
Blazers has many of the features of real NBA basketball, such as player substitutions,
network announcers, hook shots, finger rolls, player statistics, team statistics, a
twenty-four second shot clock, free-throws, jump shots, double-teams, steals, blocked
shots, dunks, fouls, turnovers, backcourt violations, inbound violations, and time outs.

To save your progress in a tournament, so you can pick up where you left off after
turning off your Super Nintendo, a password feature is available.

COLLEGE SLAM brings fast-paced, rim-rattling basketball action to the Game Boy. Choose from 40 top college teams and play the semifinal mode to get a quick basketball fix, or experience the ups and down of a tournament or a 20-game season. If the CPU-controlled opposition starts to play like a freshman, challenge three of your friends to some action in multiplayer mode. All of the action you expect from COLLEGE SLAM is here: gravity-defying, backboard-busting dunks make an appearance along with power-ups like whirlwind, invisibility, and lightning. When a player hits three shots in a row, watch him continue to light up the scoreboard while on fire. To help set the college atmosphere, sing along with the Cincinnati Bearcat Band as they perform each school's fight song. With all of the action in COLLEGE SLAM, you'll wish that you had stayed in college for a fifth year.

Its gameplay is nearly useridentical to NBA Jam, on which it is based. It includes most major Division I colleges, but there are many, such as the University of Tennessee, the University of Notre Dame, and Mississippi State University (who had just made a run to the Final Four that year), that are not included. The player can play tournaments, a season, or a single game.

In the spirit of NBA Jam comes College Slam, where you can choose from over forty of the top college teams and play head-to-head, semi-finals, tournament or even a twenty-team season mode. Enjoy fight songs, cheerleaders and the ability to edit the names and stats of five players on your team. Make no mistake, this is two-on-two arcade hoops action, with emphasis on action! Grab numerous power-ups, find hidden players, enter secret codes, or make substitutions for injured players. Be prepared for some outrageous dunks that can shatter backboards and crazy moves such as the whirlwind. Score three baskets in a row and you'll be "on fire." It's Phi Kappa Slamma all the way, baby!

All-star NBA center Bill Laimbeer, notorious for his aggressive play style, headlines this futuristic basketball title. Viewed from an overhead perspective, the game features eight fictitious teams competing in a series of 14-game seasons. The top two teams in each season advance to a more challenging league. Four leagues are included in total, from the lowly Division III to the ultimate "Super League." In addition to standard passing, blocking, and shooting, the game lets you shove or tackle the opposing ball carrier to create a turnover. Hot spots on the court trigger power-ups like spinning saw blades or homing missiles to stymie the competition. Earn cash to purchase new athletes, each individually rated in six key areas, from aggression and agility to speed and strength.

Basketball sim endorsed by one of the more colorful announcers on the NCAA basketball scene - Dick Vitale, the man who made the phrase "awesome, baby" his trademark.

A fast-pased, first-person, true 3D hoops sim in the One-on-One style - a real eye-catcher considering the limits of the stock Genesis hardware, although animation does tend to get jerky at times. There's plenty enough stuff here to keep even the most jaded sports sim fan happy, and thank God that Dick's voiceovers can be turned off (I personally find him rather obnoxious). Definitely worth the look, especially if you've played Coack K so much that you're on your third replacement gamepad.

Based on the arcade game, Double Dribble is a basketball action game for one or two players. You can select different time limits for games, select teams, and begin playing! Gameplay is entirely action, so no time needs to be spent customizing the teams or with statistics. You control each player on the team one at a time (the player with or about to receive the ball will be human controlled, with the computer taking over the other players temporarily.) The game features a small amount of digitized sound effects, and close ups of slam dunks.
