You're on your own now. With this sentence the first mission is totally clear: shoot and find your way through several stages. Every level has a clear mission and you won't be bothered with complicated quests or specials. Just run, shoot and handle some switches. That's all. The visual appearance of the game is quite similar to Shadowrun and the soundtrack is also. A little hint: to save ammo, try to hit the enemy with your knife. It's far quicker and you'll need the ammo later on.

An arm wrestling game in which the player takes on a number of different, distinctly cartoon-like opponents. The game's graphical styling is very similar to Nintendo's classic "Punch-out" series. Game-play requires that the player initially pushes the joystick to the left, but whenever the computer opponent starts to act, the player must push the joystick to the right to counter-attack, and press the button to increase power. If the counterattack is unsuccessful, moving the joystick back and forth several times will prevent the player from being pinned. The player's opponent must be pinned before the counter reaches one minute, or the match will be lost.

A port of the Neo Geo game of the same name, Art of Fighting for the Super NES is a Street Fighter II-style fighting contest for one or two players. With 10 different characters to choose from and fight against, you can challenge the computer or a friend.

A one-player story mode, which lets you play as Ryo or Robert, will eventually pit you against all of the fighters in a series of one-on-one bouts. Your mission is to save Ryo's sister, Yuri Sakazaki, who was recently kidnapped.

Equipped with an assortment of two to three special moves, along with basic punching, kicking, and crouching maneuvers, each character in Art of Fighting uses a special form of karate known as Kyokugenryu. Special moves include Burning Upper, Cross Dive, Super Blaster, Overdrive Kick, Burning Knuckles and more.

Other features include a "Raz" button to deflate your opponent's spirit and special bonus rounds to perform solo feats of strength and skill such as breaking ice and performing a number of special moves within a given time.

Ryo's sister has been kidnapped by the master criminal Mr. Big and is being held somewhere in the city. Ryo enlists the aid of his sometime martial arts rival Robert, and together they battle their way through Mr.Big's minions as they try to find Ryo's sister before time runs out. A popular videogame that inspired a short anime film.

A mediocre Street Fighter clone. Decent graphics but only 2 characters to choose from and very few moves.

An early Neo-Geo martial arts fighting game with 2 selectable characters in 1-player mode and 8 selectable characters in 2-player mode which also features a long-nosed end boss. Progressive damage is shown on each fighter's face for a dramatic effect.

This is the first fighting game to feature the 'camera zoom' - where the camera zooms in when the fighters are close together and zooms out when the fighters move away from each other. Also the first fighting game to utilize a 'spirit meter'. Every time a special move is executed the spirit meter is depleted accordingly. The more powerful the special move, the more it depletes. When it's empty special moves can't be done anymore, however, you can recharge the spirit meter by standing still and holding the A or B button leaving you totally defenseless.

The character's fighting stance and their victory pose depends on how beaten up they are.

Getafix, the Druid whose magic potion has kept his village from falling into Caesar's hands, has been kidnapped! Join Asterix and Obelix as they try to rescue the druid and save the village!

This arcade adventure captures the feel of the comic books very well, but the gameplay looks a bit tired.

Based on the infamous French comics, Asterix is an example of the old cliche - a platform licensed game. Asterix and his fat friend Obelix must battle through many levels to do something or other... the plot is irrelevant.

The platform action is fairly simple, but that's not necessarily a bad thing - there are loads of levels, some of which are quite large, and it's enjoyable enough to play through them. They are split into 7 rounds, consisting of 3 or so stages, which you can choose to play through with Asterix or Obelix. At the end of most rounds, you have to defeat a boss, which is no doubt another character from the world of Asterix.

The levels are quite varied, and the graphics are pretty good. There is pretty much every platform game feature you could think of - destroyable blocks, bonus pickups, water sections, ice sections, moving platforms, springs, bonus stages, and so on. The levels actually differ depending on which character you choose, so there's even more to play through - 42 levels in total.

Overall, Asterix is an accomplished if deeply unoriginal platform game - if you like this kind of thing, you'll enjoy it and if you don't, don't bother.

The player fights as either Asterix the Gaul or his best friend, Obelix, as they take on the 'might' of the oppressive Roman Empire. Asterix includes a variety of humorous fighting moves, which are demonstrated in the game's attract mode. The artwork and feel of Asterix remains true to its French source material, and the game's many humorous touches (such as the way defeated Legionnaires crawl away) will be instantly familiar to fans of the comic-book and cartoon series. Bonus levels - such as the chariot race that awaits at the end of the first level - introduce different gameplay elements to provide a break from the fighting.

You play as Asterix in standard platforming form, and must progress through several levels while battling with various enemies. The ultimate goal is to rescue your friend Obelix who is being held captive by Julius Caesar, and is in danger of being thrown to the lions. As such is the case, your enemies include Romans, but also the genre classic agitated animals.

Asterix and Obelix return for a new, wackier adventure in the Roman Empire. In 50 B.C.E., the town of Indomital (where you reside) still holds out against the invaders. In a desperate attempt to rule the empire, Caesar builds a fortress around the city, making it impossible for anyone who lives there to leave. So take control of Asterix, Obelix, or both, to travel to various parts of the empire capturing a souvenir from each to prove that the people of Indomital still have freedom.

Released in 1995 and developed and published by super company Infogrames, Asterix & Obelix, the 2D platformer/action title based on the wacky comic of the same name, received a look similar to the comic. Each level is designed with 2D movement forward, back, and into the screen, allowing gameplay on various levels. Take on hordes of soldiers, enemies, and creatures as you journey through forests, over oceans, and through an entire continent on your quest to prove Caesar a fool. Jump and hack your way to bonus points by defeating enemies and collecting items on your travels. Asterix & Obelix can also be played in a two-player co-operative mode where each player controls a character. Asterix & Obelix, available in English, French, or German, offers three game difficulties, a password system, the option to turn off the music, and the choice of using either Asterix or Obelix as player number one.

During the Roman occupation of France, a lone Gaul warrior arose from among his fellows to do battle with his largely incompetent foes. Meet Asterix, the undersized hero of the first French Resistance. Based on the hit European comic series.

Excellent concept, excellent games. I must admit to a certain bias, as I am a fan of the original comic, but even non-fans have found the games to be entertaining. Highly recommended.

The game is based on the popular French comics series Asterix. It is 50 B.C., and the entire Gaul (today's France) is conquered by the Romans. Only one village still remains independent, thanks to the incredible powers of its two great warriors, Asterix and Obelix. In the game, they must first of all liberate the village Orvio and rescue their friend Dogmatix.

You can play as either Asterix or Obelix. You make your way through platform levels, fighting enemies by punching them, and jumping to access higher ares or to avoid falling down. There are also some items you can collect, such as bombs, with which you can overcome obstacles and advance in the game.

Nice graphics, with some of the best sprites on the Master System, but the platform gameplay is just a bit too predictable.

Asterix and the Secret Mission is yet another platform game based on the French comic character. Much like Asterix, every level can be played as Asterix or Obelix, his clinically obese friend, and again the levels are different depending on which character you choose. There are 5 or 6 levels this time, far fewer than in Asterix, and again they are fairly simple, cliche-ridden platform levels - enjoyable, if you like platformers, but hardly ground-breaking.

The plot this time is that you must collect the ingredients needed for a magic potion... one per level. You have to find the ingredient before you can exit a level.

Overall, it varies from easy to tricky, and occasionally veers towards originality, but in the end is Yet Another SMS Platformer.

The Astyanax, known in Japan as The Lord of King, is a side-scrolling platform video game.

The story centers around a warrior named "Roche" who pulls the mystical "Fire Axe" from a stone and fights his way to Castle Algerine to fight the evil wizard "Algos". After he is defeated, the hero enters the alien realm of the wizard's dark god, who also must be destroyed.

Gameplay:
The Astyanax is a side-scrolling platform game. The controls are fairly simple: the A Button makes Astyanax jump, the B Button will attack with an axe called Bash, and a combination of up and attack will perform a special magic attack. It featured a "power gauge" that grows between attacks; the length of the bar determines how much damage Astyanax will do with his next attack. If one attacks rapidly, one's hits will do little damage, much unlike most games where a rapid succession of hits would all be equally damaging.

Story:
Athena was the young, headstrong princess of the heavenly Kingdom of Victory. She was bored of the monotonous daily life in the palace and desired exciting adventures. One day, she opened the "Door Which Shouldn't Be Opened" in the basement of Castle Victory, said to lead to a savage and deadly place. As she dared to cross the doorway, it caused her to fall from the skies and to another realm called Fantasy World, which was dominated by the evil emperor Dante. After descending with her flowing dress, which was then lost during the fall, the perilous adventures of Princess Athena began as she landed in a wilderness overrun by beast-like warriors and more dangers than she could ever wish for. With no other choice, she set out to face Dante and every obstacle on her way, in order to free this world and make it back alive to her own.

Gameplay:
Upon landing, unarmed and mostly undressed, the princess only has her kicks to fight the monsters, but she may collect the dead enemies's various weapons, and also has the chance to find shields, headgear and armor to cover her body (although these will be lost after withstanding some attacks). Her journey requires leaping and climbing as well as fighting through the land's eight hazardous worlds, each leading up to an oversized enemy that must be dealt with before proceeding to the next area. The use of certain weapons such as a hammer allows Athena to break through stone blocks, sometimes revealing not only armor but magic items such as Mercury's sandals that, when worn, allow her to make great leaps.

The game features certain role-playing video game elements to complement the platform action. Princess Athena has to defeat enemies such as the final boss by using various mythological weapons, items and equipment. Without some items, she cannot make it through the adventure.
