Contrary to the classic speedy gameplay in the Sonic series, Tails Adventures is a puzzle-based platformer with a strong emphasis on item collecting and backtracking, like a side-scrolling action RPG.

Tails can walk, jump, duck, look up, fly, hang on ledges, and can solve puzzles and defend himself with a range of different items, such as Hammers, various types of Bombs, and medallions bearing other characters, which allow him to perform additional actions, such as Spin-Dashing or punching enemies. His health is measured numerically by a Ring Item Box at the top left corner of the screen. HP is replenished by collecting Rings, which can be found by blowing up rocks or defeating enemies. He starts with 10 HP, but that number maxes out at 99 when all six Chaos Emeralds have been collected. His air time is limited by the flight gauge, which starts at about 3 seconds and maxes out at about 15.

Soar into the wild blue yonder with Kit and Baloo, your madcap buddies. Scramble to win the world's zaniest flying contest ever, in Higher for Hire's famous flying machine, the Sea Duck. The prize: a lucrative air transport contract and glory for all!

One of Disney's best animated series to date is reduced to this humdrum platformer with poor graphics and sound. Not awful, but certainly not worthy of the license.

Tang Tang is a platform/puzzle hybrid for one or two players; based heavily on Tecmo's superb 1986 release, "Solomon's Key - Solomon no Kagi". The players' characters are armed with a magic wand, which can be used to both destroy and create blocks to use as platforms and barriers. Players can remove platform blocks directly above their characters' heads by repeatedly jumping up into them until they break.

To complete a level, players must collect all of the circle/diamond items that litter each screen. Once all of these have been collected, a door will appear through which the player must exit to complete the level.

Tarzan, has some of the nicest looking graphics on the Colecovision. The sprites are rounded, not blocky. The jungle is lush and looks like a jungle instead of a forest. Even the vines are detailed. The temple screen is a work of art. You can see that the programmers spent some time and effort here. Tarzan can swing through the trees with the greatest of ease. He can defend himself with his fists. He also has the ability to run, jump, climb, or swim depending on the situation. The overall objective is for Tarzan to move from left to right across the various screens while rescuing all his ape buddies from their cages. This gives him access to the Temple screen and the final boss - The Flaming Idol.

Along the way, Tarzan hooks up with his chimp pal, Nkima who tags along and provides warnings until a bunch of bananas distracts him. Among the obstacles to be faced are the hunters who will shoot at you. The crocodiles that try to prevent a river crossing. The snakes with their deadly fangs. The Flaming Idol that shoots fireballs with its beady little eyes. The Beastmen who guard the temple. There are pitfalls that open up in the ground. There is plenty to keep you busy. Your strength is measured and should be replenished as needed.

Eschewing the side-scrolling platform setup found in the Genesis version of the game, Taz-Mania for the Super NES is a behind-the-runner racing game in which a very nicely animated Taz walks, runs, jumps, and spins down the highway, attempting to catch a certain number of kiwi birds before time runs out. Hunters Bull Gator and Axl put glue, black holes, and other obstacles in the way, and the game automatically ends if the love-struck Tasmanian She-Devil catches up with our hero. An especially inventive happening occurs when a trembling Wendal T. Wolf jumps on Taz for protection, partially blocking his eyesight (and the gamer's view of the screen). Grunts, groans, and other cartoon-like sound effects offset the disappointingly ordinary music. Gameplay, though suffering a bit from sameness throughout the levels, is fast-paced, challenging, and enjoyable, and definitely makes Taz-Mania worth taking for a spin.
